Buying a new mountain bike - but which one? Any thoughts?

This year I've been really lucky with the amount of time I've had to be able to get out and ride. I've been really focused on my riding and feel big improvements have been made in all areas - I certainly seem to ride quicker and smoother than ever before.

So, now I feel it's time to invest in a new bike.

Localy (Davos) EVERYONE seems to ride a specialized Enduro... so I'm certainly looking at this bike.

But I'm also looking at the Cube Fritzz 2009 (either standard or the one)

Has anyone got any experiance of either bike?

I like to Climb, I like to descend (all though freeride is not my strong point yet its an area I'd really like to develop!), but I'm happiest in good all round trail that mixes a bit of everything.

Thoughts appreciated!
Patrick

Hey Patrick sorry no can help, however I would like to know where good riding is here. I am in Basel, where is there decent downhill stuff. I love the speed although am not brilliant at it. Love riding and did quite a few races in South Africa. Do they have organized events here for bikes?

Good luck with your new bike!!!

Hey Patrick,
Rather then recommending a specific brand of bike I think what you should do is go to the test days in Lenzerheide in September. Most of the brands are there and you can try the bikes on trails similar to what you have in Davos. I have done this the last two years and found quite a few bikes that I liked and it certainly helped a lot the last time I changed my bike.

I ride your area alot and I use a 140mm travel all mountain bike that weighs between 12.5 and 13.5kg depending on how I set it up. I can still climb on this bike and it is a whole load of fun when the trail starts going downhill. I am probably still going to add a longer travel and slightly heavier bike to the stable though for the days when any climbing will be less then 1000m.

I'd love to go to the Lenzerheide Bike Test days -Harriet on the other hand would probably not want me to go... we're getting married on the 26th!

Wonder if I could convince her a honeymoon in Lenzerheide on the 27th would be a good idea

Good riding is everywhere in Switzerland almost all the ski resorts have lifts that carry bikes - if you only like the DH stuff.

Lenzerheide, Arosa, Davos and Crans Montana are all great areas.

This thread has loads of good stuff.

Competitions are wide spread too.
Here in Davos we a 24hour race, Swiss Bike Masters, Ride the Day, Grishatrail.

Lenzerheide has Bike Attack

lookup resort websites and these things are normally advertised.

Happy riding!

Commencal Meta 5 or Meta 6 (if you want tougher DH stuff).... but then I'm biased... I've got a Meta 5.5.2 2008 and love it as an all-rounder

I've just bought a Cannondale Rize and have seen all the 2010 Specialized Stumpies and Enduros last week in Lenzerheide and yes they look good.
