Re: Carp venues

There is a good size carp in the Lake of Lugano. You can see sometimes the ones over 20kg swimming in groups. I have tried to catch them but no success yet. I know the right swim now and will try again in 2-3 weeks. Melide and Morcote are the places to go

If no success with carp, you just entertain yourself with a roach and walleye

To fish in Lugano you need an annual license (hard to get) or touristic license (CHF30 for 2 days fishing, CHF 60 for 7days) which can be purchased in fishing stores like Ambrosini Fratelli in Lugano downtown: via Soave 4, 6900 Lugano, Tel: 091 923 29 27 (italian, english).

Re: Carp venues

Hi Marcus, if you are still active in this thread, thanks for your very valuable research - it seems very useful! Have you heard of any venues in Cantons of Geneva and Vaud?? Also, have you tried fishing carp on big lakes, like Lake Geneva or Lake Gruyere? I read an article online that states that the latter lake is pretty good for Carp fishing (http://aero-caribbean.com/top-3-fish...s-switzerland/). Among the places you found, the closest ones to my location are the ones in Jura, but still they are about 2 hours of driving from my location, which is in Geneva. Thanks for any advice!!

Re: Carp venues

Hi all.

I know it has been a few years since anyone posted here but I have recently moved to Locarno from the U.K and love carp fishing (I am up for any kind of fishing and have been trout spinning in the mountains with a friend). However, I would love to find a lake in Ticino/nearby where I could Fish overnight in Bivvy. I recently did a day (Its now October 2020) at Lago D-Origilio which was nice, big carp and other species in there from videos and photos I've seen, but so busy with families and kids its not very relaxing. Plus I got hit with a 140 CHF Parking ticket, uuuugghhh, but it was a good day. (No fish caught).

I have tried Lago Maggiore but man it's snaggy as hell with all the rocks on the bottom and trying to fish from the shore. Plus there are no places to set up on a bank in a quiet spot that I can find. Ideally in nature, not really up for a day surrounded by tourists.

So if anyone out there knows of a great place (I don't mind driving for few hours) where you can have a night fishing, please please let me know, or your welcome to join too, meet up for a day session, whatever best. Would be nice to meet some fellow international anglers.

Thanks all,

Tight Lines,

Matt

I used to spear fish back in the day for carp, are people actually eating these fish? I understood at best, they could be smoked but not a tasty fish

Re: Carp [fishing] venues

Matt, are you really asking people to publish their secret hidden quiet fishing spots on a public forum, to be overrun the very next weekend and every one thereafter by a horde of EFers?

Could someone clarify for me- fish and release lakes are not allowed in Switzerland. At least this is what I understood.
