Hi Lada
Well if you like boardering then try Adliswil Climbing centre it's abit like the monkey room in Mile End.
What colour routes were you climbing in Mile End?
Cheers

Hi Matthew, I'm moving to Zurich in about 6 weeks, been climbing (mainly indoors) for a few years and almost all the outdoor stuff I've done has been trad. If you're still looking for a climbing partner I'd be keen to meet up. Also will be working in Adliswil so could meet up at the climbing centre if you're interested.

Hi Ali the nomad
Sounds good, however I should give a word of warning, the climbing centre in Adliswil, has had a make over and now almost all the routes are amazingly hard, they were hard before the make over. So if you like really difficult over hangs then Adliswil climbing centre is for you.
It would be good to meet up and climb. What grade do you climb?
Cheers
Matthew

Hi Matthew,
only have a proper grade with trad routes - can lead up to HS, 2nd some E1s. Not done enough sport climbing to know what grade I can do.
Is there any trad climbing around or is it all sport routes? I've had a look for some guidebooks but only found sport routes so far.
Does anyone else know about any good trad climbing areas near Zurich?
Thanks,
Ali

If there's anyone interested in doing some climbing (cragging, longer sport and/or alpine), please give me a shout. I get out a fair bit and know most of the areas in Switzerland. Have a car and all the gear. Taking a leave from work beginning mid August, so after that I will also have much more time/flexibility as well.
Also avail for evenings in Schlieren.
If there is (still) interest, I'd also be happy to coordinate an outing for the group. If most people are in or near canton Zurich, the best cragging venues (in my humble opinion) are Mettmenalp, Melchsee-Frutt, Ibergeregg, and up on the mountain passes (Susten / Grimsel / Klausen).
Cheers
Colin

Hi
I know ali_the_nomad was asking about book and guides well, I have found an amazing book shop, the only type of books they sell are rock climbing books.
Mürllerstr. 25, Zürich www.pizbube.ch
It's 100 percent dedicated to climbing, now thats the type of shop I like.
And it might be good to also take a look at www.rega.ch, if you want to book your own air ambulance from a crag of your choice.
Cheers

Tomorrow 7:30 / 7:45 PM is fine.
I think with the directions on their website it should be pretty straightforward for you to find, but I'm happy to talk you through how to get there if you want.
I've got a rope in a locker there, so you just need your own stuff.
Let's aim to meet in hall 1 (the hall where the entrance is), at the little bouldering wall. I'm about 1.90m, with short hair.

| | Re: [Zurich, Adliswil] Any rock climbers out there?
Hi,
I have just moved to Zurich and am keen to start climbing again after a gap of a few years. At the moment I am climbing indoors (Minimum Bouldering in Zurich) to try and regain some fitness and could manage indoor routes of 6a. In the distant past I have led up to E4 6a trad and sport routes of 7a+.
This afternoon I am going to try kletterzentrum.com for the first time which is in Schlieren.
If you fancy meeting up at an indoor wall next week (Wed or Thurs night) let me know.
Regards,
Tim

Hi Tim,
Would be great to meet up. I tweaked something in my arm over the weekend, so I want to take it easy this week.
If you'd like to get together on the weekend or next week, please let me know.
Cheers
Colin

Hello fellow climbers,
I'm moving to Zurich in a couple of weeks, don't want to bring all my gear out on my first trip over - do the climbing walls hire out harnesses?
Cheers,
Ali.

I am interested in organising an indoor climbing event for English Forum. It is more designed as a social event, aimed also to attract people who have never climbed before. Lets say between 8-10 people all up. The expected venue would be Schlieren. Date: Maybe a Saturday in late September.
But I would prefer a really experienced climber to come on board and help me with this one. Please PM me if are willing help out (it would be greatly appreciated).
Remember, such an event should also eventually increase the number of available english climbing partners!
Cheers, Ian.

Mrs Last and self are likely interested (depends on date and location), we are both relatively experienced but out of practice indoor climbers (haven't climbed anything for two years or more). Anyway, great idea!
