| | [Zurich, Adliswil] Any rock climbers out there?
I'm looking for a climbing partner, for climbing outside. I live very near Zurich in a town called Adliswil. (It's worth trying the boaldering centre here).
I have been a rock climber for about 7 or 8 years now, but in the last 3 I haven't climbed outside . A big factor for this is because I just spent just over 2 years living in Amsterdam. But I'm now desperate to climb outside.
I have all the gear (except the car), I just need to find a climbing partner.
As for my ability it goes up and down, at the moment I can climb about a 6a (french grade), but I'm getting back to fitness.
Cheers
Matthew

Hi Matthew
my BFF and I like to climb though we are mega beginners and sold ALL our gear when we left LA last year. SO, maybe we wouldn't be your ideal climbing partners but we do want to do some climbing while we're here.
We don't have a car and need to get at least harnesses, helmets and shoes but I figured I'd post just in case other people were interested.
Cheers and good luck
Leyla

Hi Leyla
I have a couple of spare harnesses, but you might want to get a helmet. I only have one 50 meter rope, which could be a problem 50m is OK in the UK but I know I need a 60-70 meter rope for climbing in Europe.
With the car problem the public transport here might be good enough to get to the climbing I don't know. But I can find out.
You refered to BFF this means nothing to me, what is a BFF? Is it an American thing?
Also you when you say "mega beginners" what type of grade are you talking about? Or how many years of climbing?
Cheers
Matthew

I have only indoor experience, but am very interested in trying outdoor. Like Leylak, I would still class myself as a total beginner, not to mention I need to strip off a few winter kilos before going vertical.
I have harness and shoes, but best of all, I have wheels to fit 4 plus gear in comfort. From about June onwards I will be interested in any outings you guys decide on, or even meeting up for indoor somewhere.

Hi LiteSpeed
....or is that Mr LiteSpeed
I just looked up St. Gallen on the train web site and your over an hour away from Zurich, and about an hour and a half from me in Adliswil, so I'm affaid indoor climbing is not realistic, I'm 10 minutes walk from a boalder centre.
However the important thing is outdoor climbing, I'm quiet happy to travel for some real rock and stop all this pulling plastic. So I'll look you up in about June when your free.
Cheers

Hi,
I'm searching for a partner to do some climbing (indoor/outdoor) and it's good that you guys are living near Baden. I've been only once in Schlieren for indoor and have done a couple of times outdoor with my friends. As usual, they're not always available so that's why I'm joining this forum to look for more people that I can go climbing with.
My level is about 5a, so quite a beginner myself. I have everything except rope.
So let me know when any of you are interested.
cheers
Mei Ling

There seems quite a bit of interest in climbing among the EF'ers judging by this thread, so perhaps we could organise an Englishforum climbing meet at a crag somewhere so we can all meet up? Perhaps choose one that has a range of routes to suit all abilities, and that is easily accessible by all?
Just a thought?

Sounds good except next weekend Im in Italy visiting my dad, so is the following weekend (15-16th June) good with any one?
And does anyone know any good crag? I have no idea, all I know is I can see mountains at the other end of the lake, but I have no idea where to go climbing.
Cheers
Matthew

I'm busy for the next few weekends, but I can probably make the weekend of 30 June/1st July. I know a few crags in the Vaud alps (near Aigle), but sadly nothing in central/eastern Switzerland - however, I'm more than happy to travel if anyone knows somewhere good
p.s. I have a 60m rope and a bunch of quickdraws/karabiners, etc

You could try calling one of the rock climbing stores to get some info on who to talk to regarding where good places to climb are & who's out there looking for climling buddies in your area.
I know, for example, guys who climb a fair bit in Luzern/Engelberg & there's a rock climbing gear store here in town. The boys there'd definitely know people who might be able to give you some leads.

Hi Matthew, (and everyone)
I am looking for a partner too.
I used to climb a lot in the past (8 years ago) indoor and outdoor - up to 7b.
I am a bit rusty now, but I think I could still go on a 6b, 6c without too much effort.
I live in Zurich and I am interested in any indoor or outdoor activity.
Cheers,
Climb

Hey,
I just arrived to the city, I did climbing (outdoors and indoors for a short time in London and the area nearby) for a short while and I would love to start it again. could I join any of the trips if you are still looking for people?

Between now and the end of the month I am looking for one or more people interested in indoor climbing at the schlieren climbing gym , preferrably during the day, during the week when it is quieter.
