| | Zurich climbing partner wanted
Hello
I've just arrived in Zurich and am looking for a rock climbing partner based here. I haven't climbed that much in the last year, so I'm initially looking to do some indoor climbing (I think there's a centre in Altstetten...) and hopefully outdoor in the summer.
If you are in a similar position, I look forward to hearing from you...
If you're a climber but don't need a partner, perhaps you could offer any other advice for climbers new to Zurich?
Thanks and happy climbing
Andy

The Gaswerk is not far from Altstetten. They have everything from below-easy top-rope routes to nasty, over-hanging routes, and a boulder ceiling, too. There even is a forum for climbing partner searches on their website.
I've been there several times. It's group-friendly. A photo of me on a fairly easy route | This user would like to thank Nathu for this useful post: | |

There's a halfway decent place in Winterthur as well, right by the hauptbahnhof.

Andy,
Have just arrived in Zurich to start a permanent job and would like to meet up at a wall. I have tried the Minimum' bouldering centre and am just about to visit the http://www.kletterzentrum.com in Schlieren. Unfortunately I haven't climbed much in the last 2 years but am now keen to get fit over the winter and try some Swiss rock.
If your game we could meet at a wall on Wednesday or Thursday evening.
Regards,
Tim

I'm in Zurich for a 6 month stint. If anyone is interested in climbing at Gaswerks or outdoors, when the weather improves, I should be available most weekends and the occassion weeknight.
I'll have a full rack and rope with me by next month, if there are any trad areas nearby. Otherwise, happy to clip bolts. I'll lead up to 6a trad, a little harder sport (when not recovering from shoulder surgery).

| | Indoor climbing partners wanted Zurich
Hi
As the long dark nights draw in.....
I am looking for indoor climbing partners for climbing at either Milandia or
Schlieren mid week evenings.
I am happy to boulder or lead climb (up to 6b! - although enthusiasm more important than ability).
Cheers
S

Hi Simon67, welcome to EF. If you search the forum for "Gaswerk", you'll find a couple other threads with potential climbing partners.

Ok, so I would be a newbe to climbing but I have the equipment. would like to join somebody to learn the basics and climb a little indoor and out. In and around Zurich. Are there any group visits to the indoor walls being organised, it would be possible to join up with? I heard something about tuesdays and Thursdays in Schliren but that was just rumours.
Thnx

Thnx | | | | | Hi Rob, the rumours are true, follow this link here. [Zurich, Adliswil] Any rock climbers out there?
Unfortunately I'm out of action right now but there's a group going regularly, we've set up a google group as the list got quite big, about 10 people going at the moment.
Thanks,
Ali

Hi, thanks for the info, I actually know one of the guys in the group but can't get in touch with him today for some reason. Would it be ok to just show up there? I have some small problems joining the google groups from this computer and I would need some time to sort them out.
Cheers
Rob

| | Looking for climbing partner in Zurich
Hi, I live pretty close to the gaswerk climbing centre. Looking for someone to climb there on random evenings or weekends. I used to climb a lot indoor and outdoor back in the UK and want to get back into it over here.

Busy for the next two to three weeks but could be available after that. Go with a couple of friends at least once a week. What level do you climb at? Also how heavy are you? I'm not that heavy and not keen on flying up in the air when belaying - although they do have a weight bag I use when I climb with my heavier partner
Best
