Looking for runners [Lausanne - Sous Gare]

I know there have been some attempts in the past to form a Lausanne running group. Perhaps those failed because they tried too much to cater to everyone and ended up just sounding ambiguous. As the weather is warming, a friend and I have started to run semi-regularly. I'm proposing something a bit more regular, let me know if you're interested to join.
  • Two evenings / week, ~5-10k
  • A weekend session, perhaps a bit longer, a change of scenery, or a trail run
Some more info:
We're both in the Sous Gare / Ouchy area, so the weekday runs would typically be a loop meeting more or less at Croix d'Ouchy.
We run for fitness and as a social activity, not competitively or particularly for training.
That said, I'm planning to do some of the many running events this season and would be happy to have company!
Happy running!

Re: Looking for runners [Lausanne - Sous Gare]

I'd be interested in joining but I'd probably only make it once a week and maybe the occasional weekend.

I intend to do the 20k again this year and a couple of other events if I can get myself motivated.

Let me know what your planning.

Mike

Nothing set yet. I'm out of town this weekend so probably Monday or Tuesday depending on the weather.

cool. Tuesday would be good for me. I'm not too bothered about the weather as long as its not covered in snow.

I'll try to post the runs on the calendar for a while. I can't promise absolute vigilance, but at least until we fall into a rhythm I'll give a heads-up as early as possible.

The 5k loop we've been doing is very flat, Ouchy / Maladière / Ouchy, usually done in around 30 minutes so neither terribly fast nor slow. As it stays lighter out later, a loop in the other direction could be nice as well. Either way, it's not too demanding. It looks like I might be on my own this week as the other guy has an intense work schedule. Why not give it a go? I'm happy to slow down / step up the pace a bit as needs be. As I mentioned in the original post, this endeavor is primarily for fun, to meet people, and for fitness. In that order.

Strange, the Monday event seems to have been removed. I'm not going to recreate it; if you want to join, send me a PM. Preferably by 17h00 or so.

Re: Looking for runners [Lausanne - Sous Gare]

I've now closed the other Lausanne running Threads in the hope that you guys manage to find each other and get some serious running done.

This will put this Thread back at the top of the pile and with a bit of luck, someone will see it and reply again.

Happy Running

Re: Looking for runners [Lausanne - Sous Gare]

Hello, are there any groups (semi-beginners ;-)) running by the lake around 6:30 am?
I'm afraid that's the only time I can do but I'm a bit scared going on my own....I did do it a few times and it was just beautiful with the sun just coming out....no one around and I would go from Ouchy to St. Sulpice (around 7km).
I'm quite slow (45 min for 7km) by I would like to improve and would love to do the 20k in October.
Anyone?

In the end we never got together a regular group. What you describe is more/less the route that I'm doing - just not quite at 6h30. I know there are some people planning to do the October 20k, and several that I haven't heard from that are likely. Good luck in your training and hopefully we'll see you there!

Re: Looking for runners [Lausanne - Sous Gare]

Hello together, nice to see some fellow runners in the Lausanne area. I have started running a month ago and still work on improving my stamina. At the moment I'm doing my just under 3 km round in chalet a gobet once a week. A bit short for the experienced amongst you but if there's somebody who likes to join just let me know.

Re: Looking for runners [Lausanne - Sous Gare]

Hi all - I was just out yesterday with somebody who's been trying to get a group together as well. We'll be meeting regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 19h30 'at the three headed fountain next to the pedaloes in Ouchy, across the road from the Crepe restaurant.
The running group is pretty new but the idea is to get Lausanne's runners together so that people can have a good run with good company. As the group grows we should be able to have a variety of speeds, distances and routes so there will be something for everyone.'
If you need further info, feel free to send me a PM, otherwise I hope to see some of you on the upcoming runs!
