Covered tennis court in Lausanne?

Hi there - can anyone please recommend any good tennis clubs with covered courts in the Lausanne region that don't charge by the hour (i.e. annual membership fee)?

I'm currently based in London and may be moving to Lausanne soon and I've heard it rains quite a bit down that way, but am keen to maintain a weekly hit of tennis all year round!

Re: Tennis teacher in lausanne

Hi jeb210,

Good to hear from people enthusiastic about tennis. When I moved to CH I thought that I would be battling to get regular tennis sessions and coaching. But there are quite a few people interested, so it is not that bad. At least here in Zurich/Baden area. If you can not find many on the EF memebrs in Lausanne, there will surely be local folks sharing the same interest. Just a language might be a barrier to overcome.

Have you tried http://www.tcstade-lausanne.ch/ or http://www.montchoisitc.ch/

I would try to find out whether they put up a bubble in winter. Otherwise you can also play on carpet all year round.

I will try to get more info regarding the tennis in your region and come back to you later.

If you come around Zürich area it will be so much easier and we can organize regular sessions or lessons for that matter.

Chhers,

J&F

Re: Tennis teacher in lausanne

Thanks Jacek - TC Stade certainly looks like a great club. I'm very encouraged to see that they put bubbles up over their courts over winter for all year round tennis.

I'll check it out and maybe see you in Zurich some time!

The another place in Geneva, which is not far away from Laussane at http://www.countryclubgeneva.ch/ It might look a bit too posh, but they have nice indoor tennis halls.

Re: Covered tennis court in Lausanne?

Tennis is quite popular in the area, so you should find somewhere. Be warned 'though it's also quite expensive !
There are clubs with indoor courts at Le Mont-sur-Lausanne http://www.tennis-lemont.ch/PagesPublic/Default.aspx and Romanel
http://www.green-club.info/ These 2 places are both on the outskirts of Lausanne.
Nyon is about 30km away from Lausanne http://tennisclubnyon.ch/ and in/near Yverdon where I live there are also 2 clubs, 'though that's probably too far for you at 38km from Lausanne.

Re: Covered tennis court in Lausanne?

Thanks Wendy

I'll check out the clubs in Lausanne. I'll probably be aiming to live north of Epalinges so Yverdon could be an option.

Do you play regularly in Yverdon? Maybe I'll swing by and we can have a knock some time???

Re: Covered tennis court in Lausanne?

No, unfortunately I had to give up playing tennis as it was hurting my arm too much. Have been a member of both Yverdon's tennis clubs in the past 'though.
Still love the game, but as a spectator only now.
In Yverdon (probably elsewhere too) in the winter months when there are fewer possibilities, there is a system of "abonnement" where you pay for a fixed hour/day per week which is "yours" (to play or to exchange). In the summer months, as a member you can play any time as long as there are courts free, Of course non-members can always hire courts by the hour.
Lausanne area is a lovely area to live, I'm sure you'll like it.

Re: Covered tennis court in Lausanne?

Hello!

There's a tennis and badminton indoor club in Crissier (very close to the Migros centre), in the suburbs of Lausanne. I couldn't tell you the exact name of it, but you can google it.

I'm not fully sure, but I think you can either pay each time you go if you're not a regular player, or become a member and pay annual fees.

There's also an indoor badminton centre in Malley (West Lausanne), and they might have a tennis court as well.

Otherwise, there's quite a few outdoor tennis courts at Vidy, Monchoisi, and University, all of them in Lausanne.

Re: Covered tennis court in Lausanne?

I believe the Crissier tennis is no longer open to the public, but only for lessons ... http:// www.tenniscrissier.ch.
Malley is definitely only for badminton - there are a lot of courts (I think 16 from memory) but no tennis.

Tennis Clubs Near Pully/Lausanne

I will be moving soon to Pully area in Lausanne, and would like to know if there are tennis clubs in this area.

do I have to be a member of a club? what are the benefits?

One more question, is tennis played all year round or does it stop in winter becuase of weather?

Re: tennis in lausanne

I'd be keen to play some tennis! I'm reasonable, don't know how else to put it without seeing someone play! Used to play a bit in England but haven't played for quite a while now. Only just moved to Lausanne (well, Le Mont Sur Lausanne actually) - is there anywhere you can play without being a member?

Re: tennis in lausanne

hi,
Recently moved to Lausanne and keen to play tennis. I have played a lot of tennis in the UK before and would love to find a regular hit.

Let me know if anyone is interested or can help me integrate into a tennis club?
Thanks so much
Adrian

Re: tennis in lausanne

I am moving to Lausanne in March 2010 and interested in finding a tennis club that has work out facilities if possible. Back in the States, I am a member of a club that has about 15 clay courts, pools, and nice workout facilities with weights and cardio. Can I expect to find anything that resembles this kind of set up in Lausanne? What would be typical membership costs?

Two clubs in Lausanne that are nice, but will not have the weight rooms or cardio, but very good clay courts.

http://www.tcstade-lausanne.ch/News/news.html is located near Stade Coubertin with a great rubberized track and Vidy has some good running trails.

Other club is http://www.montchoisitc.ch/mtc/ near the Olympic Museum and the swimming pool and a cool little area of Lausanne.

Joining fees and annual fees looks around 800 chf/adult first year, after about 350-400 annual fee. Montchoisi a bit more cosy crowd.

Re: tennis in lausanne

Do you know of a good instructor in the area, I have been taking lessons for over a year back in the US and would like to continue for myself, my wife, and kids. Also I would be interested in any round robins or mens leauges. I am a 3.0 - 3.5 level player.

Dont know any instructors myself; my son many years ago was at Montchoisi. Sure you can find one within these two clubs that can suit you fine.

BTW, the Vidy club has inflatable covered courts for the winter.
