recommendation for paragliding-Zurich

Hi Folks,
I am planning to go for paragliding lessons. Could anyone kindly suggest me some good club for that. I am a total beginner. I would love to hear your experiences also.

If you find a place, I would like to go too. Maybe we can get a group together and get a discount. This is the site I know of...

jagshere & crfesi,

I have been learning to paraglide with Paraworld. They are based in Zurich, and fly around the Luzern & Zug areas (amongst others). I cannot recommend them highly enough. Contact details are on their website paraworld.ch.

Is anyone going to paraglide today? I'm an experienced paraglider. I'm thinking of heading to Mt. Rigi but need a little more info on where to go, etc. Any ideas? Thanks!

crfesi, me and leigh went last weekend in Interlaken. Check out the photo's on facebook!!

The sales stand is conveniently situated outside Hooters, which was a great excuse to pop in and have a few beers

Have a look at Paragliding 360. There's all the info including landing areas and landing pattern requirements.

If you join up, you can get PDF site guides.

I've flown off the top - the views are great.

We fly regularly from Rigi with Paraworld. They also have a members's flying club for experienced paragliders. I can recommend launch sites at Rigi Seebodenalp, Rigi Scheidegg and Rigi Staffel. I am enthusiastic to try Rigi Kulm, but I have been told that that the takeoff is a little challenging.

My recommendation is to register with paraworld and come fly with the members.

The gradient is quite shallow so make sure you are taking off in rising air.

If you take off after this point then watch out for the wooden fence and ensure you clear it.:D

I can't speak for the schools, but I have it on good authority (myself) that Üetliberg has good flying conditions for hang gliders and paragliders, though a suitable paragliding takeoff is a bit further down the ridge.
So if you stick with it, you can fly right by Zürich, and land right on the edge of it.

You can land just to the left of those soccer fields:

Tandem Paragliding near Zurich

Hi all,
Could you suggest me the best Tandem Paragliding places near Zurich? I would like to give it as a birthday present to my friend, but i'm a little confused, because there are so many.. and i have no idea, which would be the best view for the best price..
till now i've found 2, i was considering:
1) paragliding.ch
classic? or rigi? or pilatus
2) skycenter.ch
alp walau- weesen? or Sants/ Chaserrugg/Flumsberg or Topflug Chaserrugg

Maybe you have other good ideas and experience in other places? Or which one from the mentioned above is the best?
i will be really glad for you advice..

Re: Tandem Paragliding near Zurich

Hi
Rigi and Pilatus are both very scenic flights.
But you have to keep in mind that paraglidong is very weather dependent, so itmight happen that you end up flying off another mountain or postponing the flight a few times.
If your friend goes for his first flight he probablx will be exited enough flying off any mountain. I am a pilot myself (but I don't do tamdem flights) and I have seen a lot of passengers totally exited about a "normal" ( such as the classic on paragliding.ch)
A pilot I can recommend is www.furrair.ch, he normally flies in the walensee region (weesen, flumserberge, braunwald) but also places like flims.
he is a really save and good pilot, I did send my mom with him last year (and yes, I do like my mom)

have fun in the sky
Christina

Dear all…As I had a horrible experience with Paraworld
(http://www.paraworld.ch) in Zurich I would like to share this with you. It would be beneficial for all new comers especially foreigners whom wants to take Paraglider course with Paraworld ! In short Paraworld is not a place for foreigners or maybe dark-skin foreigners…Both trainers was so rude, sarcastic, ironic and mocking! I was the only foreigner in the group and they did not bring equipment for me … they told me if someone make break I can use his/her stuff !… Simply they ruin my whole day without even apologizing! Finally only one of trainers apologized because at the end I denied to shake hand with him and told them I would like to report them as a xenophobic !

globalnomad 19.05.2015 22:57

Re: recommendation for paragliding-Zurich

Mariam, I am very surprised by your report on Paraworld. I have known them for over 5 years and regularly fly in the same areas as they train. They often have non-swiss students and regularly give instructions in English and Spanish as well as German. I also know many students and former students who are from India, Japan and other countries far from Europe. Non of these have mentioned to me any bad experiences.
It is always possible that your experience was unique, unfortunate or unusual. I understand you went with a friend. How did he find the experience? How did the other participants on the Schuppertag find the experience?

Re: recommendation for paragliding-Zurich

I started my paragliding course over in the east of Switzerland with www.fso.ch
they had limited English which was not a problem as I speak Swiss German. If you're out that way (St. Gallen or Appenzell) they're good folk.

Later I moved to another school closer to Zh and a place personally felt more comfortable in the crowd.
www.robair.ch
They're opened 7 days a week and have staff from all corners of the globe.
Languages include Hungarian, French, Spanish.... maybe more i'm not sure

give em a call you can't go wrong.
