Football World Cup 2010 - Panini Stickers

Just to let sticker enthusiasts (or those that have to endure them, like myself) know that Denner sells the Panini sticker packs for CHF 0.80 instead of a franc. So - a 20% saving for your kid's pocket money (or yours!)

Re: Football World Cup 2010 - Panini Stickers

Hi there, I hope this isn't a really daft question but I guess the book here will all be in German but I wonder if the sticker numbers will correspond with the UK versions? We will be spending quite a bit of time in the UK over the summer and just didn't want to start the children's collection here and then the stickers we buy in the uk don't match! Any ideas?

Re: Football World Cup 2010 - Panini Stickers

From what I've heard the Swiss version is "special" and has extra stickers (IIRC it was on 20 Minuten online). Apparently the Swiss are good customers, buying more stickers p.p. than any other country , so there are extras. The album is a "Swiss version". I don't know if the numbers correspond to other editions.

Panini = license to print money.
Successfully managed to dissuade my kids from buying one this time around

I was listening to this news podcast and they said that you need roughly 800CHF to fill the album.
That's a lot of money for a bunch of stickers.

How, please? (and how old are they?) I managed more or less last time (Euro 2008), but this time it's hopeless as my older son has free rein over his pocket money. It's just a shame to see it disappear that way.

Still, I suppose you could say the same for apps on the iPhone - a franc here and there can't hurt, can it?

There's no way we're spending that!

The kids at school are very creative in getting their money's worth. They have invented new playground games, swopping, experiencing winning, losing. Better than spending break-time fiddling about with ipods and psps, no?

That's an exaggeration. I bought a box (100CHF) and had zero doubles and a few days later I bought single packs at different locations, plus schoggibrotli at Heini (which comes with one free sticker). Right now I'm missing 138 stickers. If I order the missing ones from Panini I'll spend 40CHF more, which means I'll spend less than 200CHF to complete it.

I've been doing the Panini World Cup albums since I was 6, so it's a tradition by now. Doing it in Switzerland is more expensive, but still, it's part of the collection now.

Well, they don't get pocket money for a start and our 10-year-old is so bloody tight with all her birthday and xmas money, she would never dream of wasting it on Panini. They're 12 and 10 btw, both girls (which probably helps).

Denner for CHF 80.00. Haven't seen them for less, but 20 Minuten online reported a kiosk somewhere that sold them for seventy something. I don't think you'll get them for less as the buying price for the sellers is CHF 58.80.

In the 40's and 50's they were cigarette cards and were given away free in the packets.

These Paninis are a disgrace; charging people for small pictures of grown men!
