Hi!
I am visiting Geneva this week for work and brought my ReignX. Looking forward for some nice biking Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It would be great fun to hook up with someone. Or to get some information on good places to bike where you can find your way around without a guide.

Hi All,
V interested in this thread - I arrived in Geneva just before Winter set in last year, so dying to get out there on the bike.
Also looking for close XC - something I can ride to if possible. Have been to Lelex for skiing and it's a little far from where I am.
Saleve is closer, but they're both fracking steep - I had to leave my beloved duallie in Australia so just have a manky hardtail and am looking for some not-so-technical XC.
One thought I had was of taking the bike on the train to Saint-Cergue via Nyon - any rides up there? Might have to wait till the snow clears I guess, but can't be long now...
Any tips appreciated!

Hey Adam, welcome!!
I tried to ride Saleve once, but took a wrong route and ended up carrying the bike more than riding it Am sure there must be some routes off there, but like most places around here, it often isn't well marked (or marked at all) so can be hard to find.
There is some good XC in Metabief, just over the border in France, also around the Lac de Joux...but not sure easy they are for you to get to.
I would imagine there must be some riding off St Cergue, but I've not been up there. I'd be interesting in joining a group trying it out though for sure.
Can't wait to get the bike out again and hit the trails.

Hi everyone,
I'm another mountain biker who just moved from California to Geneva.
I ride (and race) downhill, XC, road, and dab on bmx.
I'd love to meet other mountain bikers in the area. I'm looking for both shorter mid-week rides and epic weekend rides

I'm in St Cergue and although haven't done much mtbking up here yet am keen to explore some more. There are tons of trails of varying difficulty. Evenings are best for me as weekends tend to get taken up with climbing. Although the train takes awhile its perfectly [possible to get here from Geneva (18.14 train has good connections) in about 5o mins.
I'll post something on the social events calender once it goes back to being a touch warmer (currently 5 degrees up here).

Thanks for the tips guys - I must say after walking on Le Saleve I am a bit wary of trying to ride it without 8" of travel!
Looking forward to trying out St Cergue though now it's sloooowly warming up.

fwiw i rode st cergue with a friend once (a looong time ago). i can't remember the route well, but we parked in Grenolier and took the train up. my friend was leading the way so i didn't pay attention well but the ride down wandered a bit on the road then off through flat cow pastures before starting to descend back down to Grenolier. it was pretty easy riding and really nice vistas from the top. if you miss the trails the road will lead you right back to Grenolier.

Hi, I've just moved to Geneva from New Zealand a couple of weeks ago. Keen as to find people to ride with here.
I use to race XC back home. But I'm also pretty into technical DH riding.

Once I've got the lac leman ride out of the way, and recovered, will definitely post a ride. Was out yesterday and conditions are great now it's dried up.
Sadly the cows have been gradually re-introduced over this past week after their winter lower, so fences have appeared all over the place, including across waymarked footpaths - just a word of caution if you haven't ridden the trail before it's worth not hurtling down at top speed.
Yesterday some of the higher bits on la Baralette and La Dole where still fence free while they give the grass thats up at that elevation a chance to grow before letting the cows at it. So if your planning some exploring this weekend thats where i'd go.

Hi all,
I'm arriving at the beginning of septembre in Geneva. Very interested to ride there, both in weekends and on weekdays or evenings.
I ride mostly downhill and freeride, but also love XC a lot. Hoping to team up with a few people to have some fun on the trails. If interested, PM me!
Best regards!

Does anyone ride in winter and where?
I arrive in Geneva in early Jan from Australia and keen to get riding asap. I know it's freezing but is there any areas without snow that i can get started on before i search out the big stuff in summer?
Thanks

Most of the regular trails in Zurich get enough use that the snow gets a bit packed and they are quite fun to ride. Find some local woods go explore.
Also check out this Facebook group, there are a few other bikers in the Romandie region who might know some trails down there. Most people in Switzerland spend Jan/Feb on skis or snowboards though. The bikes start to appear in March/April

Hi,
I'm hoping to hook-up with some mountain bikers in or around Geneva. I live in Ferney myself. I mainly go XC, but would not mind to rent a downhill-bike to get a speedier experience as well.
Cheers,
Anders

Hello Everybody
I am a avid XC mountain biker and is planning on a mountain biking trip to Switzerland/Italy/France for June 2012, but Switzerland will be my base, if I could put it like that. I know it is still a long time away, but I would like to start deciding on where and when etc, I will have to rent a bike and go cycling with people from the region, as then I feel I will get to see the best places and not just the commercialized areas. Will appreciate any information.
Regards
