Hey, check out http://www.morgins.ch/
I haven't been there yet as I'll only move to Geneva in September but it looks pretty good looking at the maps and all. Maybe you can scout it out and once I get in town we can meet and go together. I'm also looking to do some road biking and will be looking for some groups or clubs where I can do that regularly.

Hi there and welcome,
There is plenty of good riding in the Jura north of Geneva. We go that way a lot, and also further down the other end of the lake in Leysin, Les Diablerets, Champery to name a few.
Still hoping to do a trip to Verbier this year, and maybe Chamonix if we get time.
For some ideas, you can check out these links:
Link1 Link2
Also, in July there is the Passportes Du soleil where you can do an 80km route (nearly all lift assisted) around Champery, Morzine, Avoriaz. Done that the last 2 years and it is a very impressive way to see a lot of places quickly, with plenty of technical riding (if like me, you prefer to keep the wheels on the ground, there are always routes around the jumps etc. the majority would be classed XC/All Mountain). Link here.
Please post if you find some interesting routes, or shout i you fancy meeting up and doing a group ride sometime.
Cheers,
LoyalRoyal

hey,
i am a very very keen mountain bike rider (part of the reason i have moved here) i am very new to geneva, arriving just at the end of august. I am keen to ride everything available, however i mostly ride downhill, but dont moan when the going gets tough i.e i dont mind climbing.
my bike is being shipped along with my other stuff so i wont have it until the last week of september, but after that time would be keen to go for a ride.
if you send me a personal mail we can work something out.
thanks, happy trails,
andy

Hi,
Morzine and Les Gets are fantastic for XC and downhill, about an hour 10 mins from Geneva, if you need to hook up with some riders here drop us a line - the lifts are opening mid-June but as soon as the snow clears we do 'shuttle-runs', as we can't wait for the lifts to re-open!! always happy to meet fellow-riders and show you around.

Hi,
I moved to Geneva about 9 months ago and would like to get back out on my mountain bike, now that the ski season has finished, but as I am new to the areas, I am not sure where to go...or if anyone is interested in heading out into the hills locally. Normally prefer cross country as do not yet have the confidence for downhill. Anyone happy for a girlie to tag along.

Hi,
I´ll be moving to Geneva this summer and I´m trying to figure out what would be the best bike type to take with me. Currently, I´ve a Mondraker Factor with a 120 fork which fits my XC rides. Though, by what I can see in the Swiss MTB sites the rides there are mainly of enduro/descending type, which would call for a 140/160 fork.

Hey guys,
Looking to hookup with some mountain bikers in or around Geneva.
I'm mostly into downhill, but I dont mind some xc too.
I've been out to La Saleve, and to Morzine..
Maybe we can get a group together, and do some riding around local spots, or head to morzine/les gets or some other bike parks.
Cheers,
Alan

Nearer to town, in the french Jura just behind CERN, there is Lelex. I used to bike up on Sundays, but you can take the ski lift up and have the choice of 3 routes down, including a scary one right under ski lift.

Ah yes Lelex, I have heard about that place..
Is it difficult to get there from the city center?
I have a big heavy duty downhill bike that is not best suited to cycling long (or even short!) distances.
Is it possible to take a tram or bus there?

I can't help you on that one, I'm afraid. Used to live near CERN, but in France. I've now moved far to the other side, where housing is not so ferociously expensive.

If you are interested in going for a ride in the Jura or up in the Alps give me a call. We are going out most weekends throughout the year. If interested contact me via my Private Message (as I check this link more often).

| | Re: Mountain bike in Geneva Hi - I am looking for some advice with regards to places to mountain bike near Geneva. My father-in-law lives in Geneva and I am spending a couple of weeks there early August and would ideally like to know a couple of places to head for when I arrive. I am planning a couple of days up in the Alps (Les Gets area) but I would also like to do a few local rides within 15 - 20 minutes drive of Geneva. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers |

Hi,
Try La Saleve, just 15 minutes way from Geneva. I went there today and I saw a couple of bikers descending the hill. It look like a good place to ride. You can access the place by cable car or by road.
On the 7th, I plan to go the 4ème RANDO VTT DE LA
RAMAZ. It would be great if someone from the forum would show up. Check the following link

Hello everybody,
Looking to hookup with some mountain bikers in or around Geneva.
I am more into trail riding, less into downhill.
Most preferred would have been trails where one has views of the Lac Leman.
Write me a short message to my Private Message
Bye.
