Asia Spa Sihlcity, Fitness part

Hello ,

I am looking for informations about Asia Spa . Has anyone worked out at this center? Any reviews about this club? Is it crowded?
And most important, do they offer courses in english?

Thanks.

Re: Asia Spa Sihlcity, Fitness part

Hi there,

I joined Asia Spa gym over 2 months ago. I have only had to wait once in that time for a treadmill. I have only done the spinning classes early morning which the girl gives instruction in both German and English (I'm the only non German speaker in the group). All of the gym instructors are happy to speak English and are very friendly.

I use a selection of the cardio machines, weights machines and free weights, in general I'm very pleased with the setup there and the atmosphere is fine as well. I have used various gyms in the UK like Holmes place and David Lloyds. I did have a 2 week trial at the Holmes Place gym in town which was fairly decent but I did prefer Asia Spa.

Give me a shout if there is anything else you want to know about the place.

Cheers

I sometimes use the sauna and steam room after training. They have 1 steam room and 3 different saunas and at certain times they will have someone

I go there regularly, especially in winter, but for those who are not aware of it: It is a mixed gender naked sauna.

(Just for those from them more backward countries ), here is the discussion:

Re: Asia Spa Sihlcity, Fitness part

I have not had any of the treatments they provide but I sometimes go to the sauna and steam room after a workout. They have one steam room and 3 saunas it is a very relaxing atmosphere just like a typical spa I guess

I think if you have a voucher you can go use all of the facilities so you can have a workout then use the spa. If your friend likes that kind of thing I'm sure they wouldn't be disappointed.

Cheers

Re: Asia Spa Sihlcity, Fitness part

Maybe I missed something, and I have never been there (but checked the website) but if you're going just for the sauna, it seems awfully expensive in my opinion. It must be gold plated or something. Other saunas are much cheaper.

can anybody who has been say whether it was worth it, or what was so special?

I think it is one of the nicest saunas I have been to and has many nice details, for example some water beds to relax on. But it is expensive, no doubt.

Re: Asia Spa Sihlcity, Fitness part

Hey- do any of you know if the gym which apparently used the TECHNOGYM system - gives you personalised technogym memory sticks which you use in each piece of equipment you use and keeps all the settings for the machines you use and the amount of time you should use each one??

Thanks

I don't know if it's exactly the same programme you're talking about - but at the Migros gym just off Stockerstrasse they have a whole set of machines that you use for a personal programme. They tell you how long to spend on each one and which one to use...

Re: Asia Spa Sihlcity, Fitness part

Thanks Boogaloo but I am looking for any gym in Zurich that has that specific chip system...you keep the memory stick and then insert it into each piece of gym equipment and it stores all pre set programmes for your exact training programme which is run through with you on your first visit - it makes training in the gym a lot more efficient. They used it at Virgin Gyms in the UK.

As I said above, i am a member at Asia Spa. They have the very exact chip system you described: You will set up a training program with a coach and the program is saved on your individual key. You use your key on every machine to track your progress. The key is also used as an electronig key when you enter the club, to close the lockers, to book any drinks or food on in the cafe... so yes, they have what you are looking for.

I personally do not agree that it made my training that much more efficient, but that is another story.

Had a look on the migros gym website...it seems to be called Milon Zirkel!

Same kind of thing I guess, but no, not the same...maybe it's a Swiss version
