Recreational Shooting in the Geneva canton

Hi all,

Recently arrived in Geneva and am looking to continue my hobby of shooting that I had back in Australia.

I've done a bit of searching both on here and around the net and there seems to be lots of ranges and hopefully some good opportunities for me to keep my eye in. Most of the info seems to be for the North however and I cannot seem to locate anything in Geneva in the way of gun shops, clubs or ranges where I can make contact and begin asking questions. I understand that Geneva canton made hunting illegal back in the 70's, does this mean that shooting in general is less represented in Genva perhaps, although I can't see this fitting with the armed forces situation...

Any tips or info that will point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Cheers

The title of this post is misleading and alarming, holy smokes!

I think its more "ambiguous" than misleading.

ha ha.... I don't think the OP intended to alarm you.

I was pretty sure it was going to be about more problems in the P‚quis ...

On the other hand, had either of us noticed that it is posted in the Sports/Fitness Forum ...

Quite unsurprisingly, there is a gun/ammunitions shop in Paquis last I knew.

You should search under 'tir'. In canton Geneve, there were some google hits for Bernex, Versoix, Veyrier, Laconnex, Jussy, etc. These are generally shooting ranges, practice for military, but others use as well.

Ahh, I see where I have gone wrong here, my bad lol, definately no intention to knowlingly alarm or mislead but hopefully everyone saw the funny side once they reaslised no-one had been injured. I have edited the subject to avoid further heart complications for other EF's!

Did you want to shoot at fixed paper targets or just kill something for the sport/fun of it ?

Paper targets is what I was talking about, hunting is something to think about later perhaps but not something I expect to be able to do.

The previous subject title was simply 'shooting in geneva' and some of the original posters/readers thought (quite naturally) that I was reporting on a shooting incident in Geneva, the orginal post has not been altered in any way.
