Buying ski boots in Basel

Since, winter is fast approaching (errr... hmm.... well.. kindasorta...) and I am in the market for a pair of ski shoes, I am keeping my eyes open for any good deals.

Last year a friend of a friend told me that she bought her snowboard equipment during autumn, and that she got a mega discount on it. But, this was in Germany

I was at Ochsner Sport at the SBB today, and noticed that they were selling skis, snowboards and ski shoes at a discount. Not really a huge discount; only 50 CHF off the original price on Ski shoes.

So after beating around the bush, do you guys know of any place in Basel where one can pick up Ski shoes (before the start of the season) at a discount??

Re: Buying ski boots in Basel

The best time to pick up ski bargains, I've found, is the last few weeks of August, in Basel. But I've seen some good prices at other times in Ochsner, Athleticum and Sport X (Migros). You just need to keep your eyes open. The smaller, non-chain specialist shops tend not to have deals until march/april.

Don't compromise on your boots though. It's better to pay 600CHF for a pair that really fit well, than 200CHF for a pair that hurt your feet.

You can usually find much better deals over the border in France: at Decathlon in Mulhouse or at Intersport in Saint Louis

Darn! So I am already late!

And yes, the idea is to not compromise on the boots. But if i find a good boot at a discount, then yippi-yippi-yay-yay more money for a weekend
I will keep me eyes open and post back if I find anything interesting at SportXX or Athleticum Sportmarkets.

If you want to make the journey, this place in Laufen are very good.

You can rent the boots for a season, and if you buy then the price is discounted by the rental you paid.
