There will also be one in Carouge (Place de Sardaigne) from mid-November. Sorry, can't post a link as the Carouge website is 'down' again!

I expect several other communes have them as well.

The Dolder Ice Rink is great, practically empty during the week and busier at weekends. I go there often in the winter months, its a great evening out with friends. They even have polar bears for those less confident or beginner skaters to hold on to!! Definitely worth a try...

I wish our skating rink in Fleurier had not been covered up- it is just not the same indoor. The best skating is to be had 'au naturel' at the Lac Des Taillères (La Brévine NE) - when the lake freezes solid, about 2 .5km long and 1/2 km wide. On a sunny day, it is a winter wonderland. Skates can be hired there, + vin chaud, hot chestnuts, Bratwurst, etc - wonderful. But this is usually from Mid Jan to Feb- depending on weather. if conditions are really good I'll post here, and maybe we can meet there.

When I was a kid my dad used to drive the car onto the ice, and strap our sledges at the back with big ropes- then race as fast as he could and do hand-break turns- that was fun (yes dad was a nutter - and skied until he was 94 years old- RIP papa).
Lac de Joux has the same, easily accessible from GE/VD.
