Football in Zurich - Help!

Hey!

I moved to Zurich from the UK just over 2 months ago & I am keen to get involved in as much football as possible. I used to play at a decent standard but have not played much over the past year.

I am keen to get involved in either a competitive league or even just a kick about, 5, 7 or 11 aside... basically I just want to play. I much appreciate it if someone could answer the following:

- Are there any teams (11, 7, 5 aside) that I could join?
- How often do these teams play?
- Is there a local league in Zurich?
- Is there indoor 5, 7 or 11 aside pitches that are available to hire for a game of football?

I am very keen to play & it is a great way to meet people. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice.

Cheers!

Hello, I am interested as well. Live in Kuesnacht...Perhaps we can get a group together to kick once a week at least...There is aplace right across my house...Although I dont know if we can use the football field but there is a basketball court (hard-surface) with small goals (5-side)...I am up for it so let me know...
Regards,
Bo

Since footylist sort of packed in for good i've been looking and keeping an ear out for playing footy on a Saturday/Sunday with not really much joy.

If anyone hears or plans anything then please contact me if possible, i do miss a good kick around!

Seems odd I know, but instead of looking in Sports/Fitness you sometimes have to look in the Social Events section for Football Games. Here's one which is already past, but it gives you all the idea. It's perhaps not exactly what you are looking for, but you get in touch with folk who know more about possibilities of playing than I do.

Re: Football in Zurich - Help!

Hi all,

I (and a few other forum users) play for a 5th division team here called FC Hard. We have training on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are always looking for new recruits.

If you are of a good standard and younger than 31 (otherwise you have to play for the seniors, but that's still a pretty good standard!) then drop me a PM and I can give you further details.

Cheers,
StirB

Re: Football in Zurich - Help!

Hi guys,

There are a few threads about football, please have a search.

In short, a good level of football and a strong, mostly English speaking team, is FC Hard. But they have a lot of players so are only interested in decent players.

Otherwise you can find teams via http://www.football.ch/fvrz/de/vereine-fvrz.aspx I suggest doing a search for the local town you live in.

There are also threads about casual kick abouts as well.

Good luck

We used to play on Sundays outdoors, but since it started getting cold, no one is usually there anymore.. Would be interest if there is something on weekly bases

Re: Football in Zurich - Help!

Does anybody know if there is any womens football team ( English speaking ) in the Zurich region? I haven´t played football - I mean like really played properly - but I would love to start it here! But I don´t know if there is any womens teams here and international would be the best because my German is still weak and it would be nice to have a chat also, not just playing all quiet all the time -.-

I love football but I haven´t been able to see or play it here in Switzerland so it would be great to do something that I´ve enjoyed so much during the years! (I´ve been only for 2 onths but still! )

Hi, I'd like to know more about playing for the FC Hard Senior's (>31). Are there EF members there too? What's the language used? And is there training in the Winter months? Muchos Gracias...

Re: Football in Zurich - Help!

Hi Porterboy,

There's quite a few EF members in the team, as well as a good few fellow Irish.

If you want to join up, i'd recommend coming to training one Thursday night, or alternatively meet some of the seniors in Paddy's/Nelson wherever one weekend to watch the footy!
