Because MOST cases involving incest involve minors , which is statutory rape. Between Father-Daughter and Older--younger (underage) siblings.

We've just presented the free world with 12 pages of why we're discussing the abolition of an established law regarding consensual intercourse between directly related, legally aged adults which in no way affects the law with regards to abusing minors (or indeed legal adults) with regards to rape or other forms of sexual abuse. No one needs to try and defend the latter.

MOST does not mean ALL. So why should two ADULTS who are in a relationship by choice be considered criminal and on the same level as someone who rapes a stranger or their own under age kid?

We have child abuse laws and they are seen as sufficient.

You think a law which covers ALL cases, should persist when it's only (possibly) helpful in MOST cases. Even how helpful it is is questioned by the Bundesrat.

It was once claimed that a higher percentage of child abuse was homosexual and that was used as an argument against legalising that. Equally ridiculous.

Laws should address the actual harmful behaviour, not supposedly associated things, which might end up criminalising consenting adults. You seem to think that ruining a few adults lives is a fair price for maintaing a law which is redundant anyway.

That wasn't quite where the argument was going... There are several sub-threads and tangents within. I don't think anyone is accusing consenting incestuous adults as rapists.

This thread has evolved into a wider incest discussion, whilst remaining acceptably on topic. Incest is a far more severe form of Rape, the law should not be dropped, but amended and punishments/deterrents increased.
