I won't tit for tat Cariad (I've never yet given a groan in 2 years)
A defendable point of view, though very contrary to my own.
Let's agree to disagree. Neither is about to change opinion.
Kind regards,

| | Re: Swiss Firearms Vote Feb 13, 2011 | Quote: | | | | | Go read it again, in full...instead of the oft quoted sub quote taken completely out of context. I believe it states that where free states require a well armed militia to defend themselves....the rights to bear arms shall not be infringed. Written when there was no standing army. I can't see any state in America being threatened with invasion, not really | | | | | Dont forget the bit in there about "a well regulated militia." | Quote: | | | | | A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. | | | | | People in certain parts of the world still do need to have firearms as weapons, depending on where they live. But that doesn't mean that everyone, everywhere, needs to be carrying them.
My problem is and always has been that it is too easy for stupid and unbalanced individuals to get access to firearms. I don't really know what the "correct" answer is to the problem.

Yes let's be friends, although we could always continue the debate on the 'where are all the men - paper guns and plastic swords' thread :-))

Sadly the no vote has gained somewhat over the last couple of weeks. | Quote: | | | | | Opinion polls show 47% YES and 45% NO and 8% UNdecided. If the undecided split in half it will be a narrow YES, if they however mostly turn to NO it will be a 55% NO. So that it can become a narrow matter.
Nice would be if the undecided stayed undecided which would result in a narrow YES | | | | | But it never goes like that, does it. Perhaps 50% of the electorate will actually bother to vote - it will be decided by those who are sufficiently engaged by the issue and can be bothered to vote at all - rarely is this the undecideds. SF's polling methods are often flawed in that they never ask how likely the subject is to vote at all.

* Before you groan please note I say "disproportionately" not "all" or "only".

Where firearms are part and parcel of the local culture, the kind of people who have them are more likely to just be normal folk, rather than the kind of people who wear combat gear to the supermarket.

Well I do sympathise-if he left Aussieland because he had to give up his guns- and he came here because it seemed to be gun paradise - poor thing.
