Most I think are English, not European.
Do English not consider themselves European? Cause over here, the United Kingdom is on European maps.

Precisely. A "Patriot" can not, in any sense, be considered a "Tory", therefore an American can not be a conservative in any meaningful sense, unless he admits to his ancestors having made a grave mistake by favouring revolution and socialism over the divine authority of a proper ruler.
You appear to be confusing "Conservative" and "conservative".

I suppose you could make that connection, but I would be a hypocrite for not thinking that I have been privileged.

You might want to read some more about EU history before making the trek over.

If you want all the details, born in Arkansas, lived in Texas for 15 years, and now school in Oklahoma. Truely a Southerner, you might say.
and you say you are a libertarian, a euro-skeptic, and a future doctor. And you seem to be religious (perhaps of the Southern Baptist variety).

You unfortunately got the wrong impression of Switzerland. People are free but frown on civil disobedience. Most people conform and we do trust our own governments (cantonal/federal). Many of us are skeptical of Europe, but the relationship is mixed. We value our independence but we recognize our common culture. You won't like being a doctor here because the highly regulated health system means a lot of administrative work and regulated pricing. And while Switzerland was one of the focal countries of the Reformation (Calvin, Zwingli, Bullinger), religion is not considered to be a high priority, at least compared to the US.

So my advice: stay in the US.

I am Swiss by the way.

Most certainly not! We're in the continent of Europe, we're not European. There's a difference.

Some would argue that we're not on the continent of Europe, but I prefer to look at the geographical location, rather than the geo-political.

Oh and the United Kingdom is not England.
