MISSING CHILDREN police need your help

(You can read news reports/details in French in the Tribune de Geneve or TSR, or in English on GenevaLunch)

Two 6-year-old twin girls from St Sulpice are missing and police in Switzerland, France and Italy are searching for them: we're trying to alert as many people as possible. Their father disappeared with them last Sunday night, but his body was found in Italy late Thursday night, after he committed suicide. There is no sign of the girls, but the father phoned the mother Sunday night from Annecy to say the trio was with friends. The parents both worked at a multinational tobacco company in Lausanne, Irina S and Matthias S (we can't legally publish their full names). The girls speak Italian, French and Swiss German. Police bulletin in French and Italian and police number +41 21 644 82 31

The father has been found dead- but no sign of the girls. Sadly the worst is expected.

Re: MISSING CHILDREN police need your help

Saw this in the paper this morning - looks like the father committed suicide in Italy, but it seems the girls never left Switzerland;

1) The mother has their passports, and they are not covered by the fathers passport;
2) The father bought 3 ferry tickets from Marseille to Corsica (?) but no-one can verify if the girls were with him when he boarded and police have confirmed he was alone when he arrived in Italy.

I think it's definitely worth staying aware of this and everyone keeping their eyes open.

Re: MISSING CHILDREN police need your help

There was another story in the paper this morning, a father went to the local shopping centre with his sons, 10 and 7, not seen since. No repoprts of an impending sparation or divorce, a very happy family by all accounts.

Re: MISSING CHILDREN police need your help

Passports are not necessary when entering or leaving Switzerland (usually). If you don't arouse suspicion, you'll be waved across.

It is tragic that this man has done this (killing himself is one thing but killing his children???).

I reckon the mother will never get closure.

Sad

I know the death of a child in any circumstances is truly tragic, but having 2 girls myself, this really hits a nerve for me.

It's awful. Their cute little happy faces have been looking at us from every newstand, it's tragic. Psychotic freak. And there are the boys and their dad recently missing too, aren't there.

Yes it's a possible outcome due to the Schengen agreement. On a positive note the story for the boys in Italy seems to be be better with a recent reunification back to their Mom in CH (in German).

So tragic. But the priority for this man was to take away the girls from the mother. Perhaps he has not killed them, but entrusted them to somebody in Corsica, and wrote about killing them to stop the search. We can only hope.

The 2 boys and dad have been found, safe and sound. Dad had run out of petrol on the Motorway!

Yes, that occurred to me as well. Unless they are found, their fate will never been known for sure.

Me too. I wouldn't be surprised if the girls are still alive, just as the other outcome wouldn't surprise me either. Murky business and I hope they get to the bottom of it one way or the other.

I hope you're right, but although there have been many cases of one parent taking the kids and going to their native country (or another country) to get or regain custody of the kids, I've never heard of a parent committing suicide and falsely claim in a note that the kids are dead so that they could be raised by a relative. I do know too many examples of people killing their kids and then themselves---most recently in New York state. If the father killed himself, I suspect he also killed the twins, too.

I'm glad to see that in the other case everyone is alive and well!

Been a while since I've seen an update in the news about this story (about the twin girls). Does anyone have current status? I'm still praying they'll be found and his note was just an attempt to have the mother stop looking.
