Japan nuclear cloud over Switzerland (23.3.11)

So the nuclear cloud from japan will be on Switzerland tomorrow 23.3.11.
There are different simulations showing how it propagates around the world.

According to swiss authorities there is no danger given the dilution of the cloud over the last days. There is a site with online measure of radiations. You may check it if you're worried:

- RADAIR
- Information on Japan incident & impact in Switzerland.

So we're supposed to... er... do nothing?

Glad that's settled, then.

There is one thing you can do: put people around you at rest by explaining that there is no risk. I was asked by some of my neighbour farmers and I looked online for the information. When they saw that it's monitored and measured they started smiling again.

I for one will be donning my tin foil hat. With all that dilution, it'll be incredibly potent.

Nothing, nothing at all ! Just realize that every glass of beer, wine, Coca Cola or orange juice contains some uranium, plutonium, etc, but of course in a way which is quite normal. I do not believe that this "cloud" is hazardous. My grandmother once told me that when she grew up, they several times per year came under the cloud which had resulted from the Krakatau, which had broken out just in the year when she was born. According to her, the "older generation" of those days were quite clear that the climate had become colder for more than a decade. And when the clouds passed, it apparently even in good weather, was like cloudy for some two days.

Absolutely, the homeopaths must be insanely scared....actually, it'll be less diluted than normal air, so it's an improvement....I'm so confused

Re: Japan nuclear cloud over Switzerland (23.3.11)

There was a piece on the BBC today that said the level they have detected in the spinach around 120km from the site has 7 times the normal level. The professor then put this to context by saying even if you ate a large amount of spinach for the next 365 days you would still get no more exposure than during a normal CAT scan at hospital.

I have no science background but at face value this seems a little more san than some coverage.

Start by eating the charcoal from the fire!
Don't eat spinach and use those shelters under your house you are so proud/frightened of!
Apart from that do what DB has said already. Nothing lol

Should I also move to Aberdeen to protect myself further by increasing my exposure?

You mean, panic, but do so in a composed and orderly fashion.

Re: Japan nuclear cloud over Switzerland (23.3.11)

I haven't heard any instructions here, so I guess we aren't supposed to do anything. Back home, though, when the cloud comes people are advised not to do sports outside, close the windows, not air the apt and not hang outside much.

Much better to do nothing rather than hiding in your fallout shelter or cellar, where radon may be seeping in from below.
