...apparently, the police tried to wear him down, starve him out.
(IMO, this incident would have taken a trained police force 30min tops and he would have been down.)

He knew damn well if he was going to sleep a bit, they would collect him there and then.
Didn't they have the big woopie cushions on the ground, so if he jumped while police was going up, he would land "soft " and could be arrested?

Poor Mimi got confused by his actions..
Does he get the bill for the cost of that operation ?

Given that he's in psychiatric treatment - and has been before - I doubt there's much to collect from him.
Police and other organizations involved will have to file it under "extended training..."

They were trying to prod him with brooms yesterday evening to get him to come down, through the holes in the roof they'd put in to talk to him.
It was a really steep sloping roof, and he was mainly perched on the chimeypot, so i'm guessing that's why they couldn't just grab him/stun him/tranquilise him... though I was sort of wishing it by the end of the second day!

Are you sure they were brooms and not Swiffers?

I would have ignored his "request" of removing the cushions...loaded some rubber bullets and dealt with fiddler on the roof.
-They rerouted 2 tram lines
- Drove around a night so he wouldn't fall asleep
- Shut down the neighborhood
- Apparently, there was a force of 60 police officers and firemen involved at all times.
...and the best idea they could come up with, was to starve him out and get him down with broom sticks?! | This user would like to thank lost_inbroad for this useful post: | |

Our neighbour and friend, who happens to be a policeman, said they were praying for rain. The good weather is apparently creating a lot of work for them.
