Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

FIFA director of communications shows a great sense of humour with this joke:

"The Fifa president Sepp Blatter, the director of communications and the general secretary are all sitting in a car – who is driving…?

The police."

http://i100.independent.co.uk/articl...tv--WJ2XpnEVWe

Seems a shame he resigned (assuming he's not involved in the corruption), after four years trying to make FIFA look good he probably needs a rest but it may even start to get easier now.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

The news yesterday said that Blatter's computer was confiscated but in his Tweet showing him working hard on reforms he was just writing at his desk. Might indicate it was sent out for wiping his files (or didn't know how to use it).

The delay in confiscating the IT equipment two weeks after the arrests is very dodgy. Maybe the Swiss police tipped them off.

I see the whole EU parliament has voted to urge Sepp to step down immediately and be replaced by an interim. Lucky Switzerland is not a member.
I am personally glad that Blatter initially beat Prince Ali, as this way we get more choice. However I am sure with the same kind of set up and federation leaders they will vote in December for the candidate who offers the least reform. They should start again from scratch using some of the CHF 1.5 billion coffers.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter, the director of communications, and the secretary general [Jérôme Valcke] are all sitting in a car -- who is driving?

Aaah that's the real reason this Dutch guy's 22,000 strong Zurich party was cancelled.

The reason seems to be that the Zürcher Polizei told him that he would be liable for their costs.

The investigation spreads wider

The Swiss Federal Prosecutor’s Office has widened its criminal probe into alleged money laundering surrounding the FIFA World Cup bids by Russia and Qatar. The number of suspicious transactions has increased from 53 to 81

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Saying that the investigation will not be fast, as the prosecutor did, is all very well, but all this time documents are being shredded, disks wiped and embarassing gifts sold off on eBay. The slower the Swiss investigation, the less likely they are to find anything, which is perhaps the desired result .

Blatter was not amused, said it had nothing to do with soccer/football.

He is right, the money should have been inside black briefcases. That my have left an impression on him.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

According to local papers the Swiss are focussing on Nicolás Leoz Almirón who is currently claimed to be in house arrest in Paraguay.

Complicated situation because he claims to have some sort of special diplomatic status.
Core of the investigation is the many millions paid into Swiss bank accounts but now only about half of the money is traceable.
