NOT a real Problem for FIFA and the new FIFA President, a lawyer, will establish the required distance

Quote "The new head of FIFA world football has been caught up in the sport’s corruption scandal because of documents that have been revealed by the Panama Papers leak.

Files seen by the Guardian will raise questions about the role Fifa’s president, Gianni Infantino, played in deals that were concluded when he was director of legal services at Uefa, European football’s governing body.

According to records, Uefa concluded offshore deals with one of the indicted figures at the heart of an alleged “World Cup of fraud” despite previously insisting it had no dealings with any of them."

Cross Trading is a subsidiary of a company called Full Play, which is owned by Hugo Jinkis.
Cross Trading signed a deal with Uefa’s broadcasting and marketing partner, called Team.
Infantino’s name appears on the contract as Uefa’s director of legal services.

The rights to the Champions League, the Uefa Cup and the Super Cup were acquired by Cross Trading.
Cross Trading immediately sold on to broadcaster Teleamazonas for about three or four times the amount paid for them

of course he will. Money is regarded higher than justice in Switzerland.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Just received this information from University of Basel.

They will have panel discussion on ways to reform FIFA with Mr. Blatter himself in the panel.

In case you are not in Basel but (for some reason) are interested in the discussion, it will also be broadcasted over the internet.

Details here.

The proposed reform was already voted for in last session where also the new president was elected. Interesting to invite Blatter to this discussion... hilarious.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Former Fifa vice president Jeffrey Webb, Argentinian-Italian marketing executive Alejandro Burzaco and Brazilian intermediary Jose Margulies pled guilty last year in the USA to racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracies.

A US judge released transcripts yesterday of the guilty pleas; the three men said they regretted their actions and suggested that bribes were standard practice.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Not exactly on topic but somehow related "A seven-figure payment from the successful Tokyo Olympic bid team to a notorious account linked to the son of the disgraced former world athletics chief Lamine Diack was apparently made during the race to host the 2020 Games,"
Source

"The alleged payment of around €1.3m (£1.03m), now believed to be under scrutiny by French police, will increase pressure on the International Olympic Committee to investigate properly links between Diack’s regime and the bidding race for its flagship event."

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Indeed. This is the IAAF investigation following Dick Pound's report. Pound already disclosed part of this information in a footnote in his report last year. The Ethics commission of IOC was already investigating that footnote. Now it turns for worse as it turns into a formal investigation by the French police.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

A step back towards the bad old days
"Domenico Scala, Fifa's head of auditing and compliance, has resigned in protest at changes proposed by the President Gianni Infantino and agreed at the governing body of world football last night.

Scala is angry the new Fifa council will have the ability to appoint and sack those in charge of its committees, including auditing, ethics and finance.

He added it "undermines a central pillar of the good governance of Fifa and it destroys a substantial achievement of the reforms".

Scala, who has resigned with immediate effect, said the new reforms made it possible for the council to "impede investigations against single members at any time"."

Source.
and here.

According to Blick Scala was also unhappy about Infantino demanding a much higher salary than Blatter.

Several Swiss newspapers published today that Gianni Infantino offered Domenico Scala a golden parachute if he agreed to leave quietly; he declined this offer.

The same newspapers claim that Gianni Infantino said he was "too busy" too answer questions about this!

I read that Infantino decided to take a lower salary... It is half of the salary of Blatter and will be less than his CEO/ secretaire general

They did take a long time to find that out. not sure you should call this corruption. This is internal contracts of salary and bonus not shown to the commission. More details are likely to follow

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

He's been elected 3 months ago. I fail to see reasons for them to take that long to reach an agreement.

Infantino has had leading positions for about fifteen years, starting as secretary general with for the UEFA in 2000. With Scala's departure he looks more like part of the problem rather than of the solution.

I assume Infantino is asking for more than they want to pay; if he was asking for less then there would be no delay

It was reported in February that the governing body’s compensation committee had already fixed the salaries of Infantino and whoever is appointed as his secretary general, ruling the 45-year-old should be paid less than his disgraced predecessor.
