They did take a long time to find that out. not sure you should call this corruption. This is internal contracts of salary and bonus not shown to the commission. More details are likely to follow

yeh you are right this is more of internal control/policy issue, but would suggest that HR/payroll/etc lack any control. I wonder what contracts normal operational staff have over there, whoever does the budgeting must think its normal

Has anyone been to the World Football Museum? It is apparently the most expensive museum in Switzerland.

I wanted to go with my two kids a while ago but we decided not to go, train or car from Morges to Zurich and then museum entry was too expensive. I don't mind paying an entry to some Museum but an adult tickets for the FIFA Museum at chf24.- for a company (Yes I call them company) that make millions I don't agree.

FIBA has a house of basketball in Mies (Between Nyon and Geneva) that you can visit for free. Although probably not has big as the FIFA Museum I found the approach much better and it's really worth a visit if you are in the area.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

According to an article today in the German FAZ newspaper here (German language) there was a plot in FIFA to force Domenico Scala, Fifa's head of auditing and compliance, to resign - see earlier post!

They also claim Infantino said his proposed 2M CHF salary was an insult.
He also is claimed to have said there was a complaint to the ethics commission about his expense reports and plan to buy a 25m house and;
"The head of the investigation chamber has told me that this has gone straight into the bin." There was no investigation. "

More details here, also German language

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Former high-ranking Fifa officials Sepp Blatter, Jerome Valcke and Markus Kattner awarded themselves pay rises and bonuses worth $80m (£55m) over five years, say Fifa lawyers.

Edit - The lawyers acting for Fifa said the contracted payments were made during the officials’ last five years in office and appeared to violate Swiss law.
Source for edit.

Football's governing body revealed the contracts of ex-president Blatter, of fired ex-secretary general Valcke and of sacked former finance director Kattner after a new Swiss police raid yesterday.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Today Tagesanzeiger published internal FIFA emails (in English language) that state President Gianni Infantino instructed the audio copies of the recent FIFA Mexico meeting should be deleted.

Also the people who usually draft these meeting Minutes were told not to; instead somebody closer to Gianni will do this.

There is a poll in Tagesanzeiger about whether Gianni should remain, circa 90% think he should resign!

FIFA themselves claim that the audio recordings are intact

Edit; the same article states that Gianni attended a couple of meetings by private jet; paid by third parties (who were not named) ?

Getting worse. Blatter on european competition draw being rigged .. I do remember a scandal some 20 years ago about these hot and cool balls. Maybe he is just getting old and silly

This is most unusual. Kind of like your defense lawyer laying down his mandate in the midst of a trial.

Looks like the auditors are concerned they will have difficult questions to answer as to why their Swiss unit failed to notice the alleged FIFA irregularities.
As Arthur Andersen demonstrated with Enron, serious cases can drag down the worldwide [auditor] company.

Andersen put the shredder in place and destroyed evidence. let's hope this time the auditor has learned

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

Quote "The Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, elected in February to lead the global ruling body into calmer waters after a series of corruption scandals, has himself been cleared of possible ethics violations.

Fifa’s independent ethics committee said it had concluded a formal investigation into Infantino’s conduct which focused on some of the flights he had taken during the opening months of his presidency and his failure to sign an employment contract."

Business as usual then

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

So his mentor has just snuffed it. BBC Website: Joao Havelange: Former Fifa president and IOC member dies aged 100

My admiration for Gary Lineker only gets stronger. He's just tweeted: "Joao Havelange, the former FIFA president has died. Football gave him so much. Yes, you read that correctly."
