Warner is fighting for his political life in Trinidad & Tobago while simultaneously trying to decide whether it makes sense to escalate things any further. I suspect the pictures of the envelopes filled with cash given to CFA officials, purportedly from Hammann and Warner, were floated this morning as a warning to him of what's to come.
I with amusement learnt that Mr Warner now out of a sudden SUPPORTS the re-election of Mr Blatter

The show must go on ! Business must be maintained and saved !

Interesting is to see that Joseph Blatter also is in the boards of FIFA Marketing & TV AG and of FIFA Travel GmbH

Why? don't you remember the FIFA scandal on the decades of "provisions" paid by the Zug based TV marketing company? It went bankcrupt in 2001 and based on a police investigation which was first started by FIFA did the Zuger cops find out that a couple of people at FIF got millions over the years which they spent privately. In the end did the court settle for a "voluntary payment" of 5.5 Millions and nobody got sentenced. The whole story was completely rotten and shows how far Blatter can reach in Switzerland.

http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/sport/fu...story/16426379

Last year, some journalists requested to see some of the old files which by law get published later on. "Somebody" complained against it and theZuger courts had to rule about it. They sided with the journalists. "Somebody" moved the case to the next higher instance and they decided to wait with the case till summer. In other words: Till after the re-election of Blatter.

Leading on from that http://www.20min.ch/sport/dossier/fi...story/21368508 some nice quotes from a BBC panorama journalist

Blatter apparently had to admit that he knew bribes had been paid. No wonder he wants to keep it out of the newspapers. Where's wikileaks when you need it?

Anyway I remember going to a charity game at St. Jakobs park. It was a game between a team with Ronaldo's mates against Zidane's mates. I think it was about 6 years ago. Anyway dispite seeing Ronaldo, Zidane and a young Robinho play my highlight was the whole stadium booing Mr bellend of the stage when he tried to gain some attention by trying to make a speech before the game. That probably explains why he avoids public speeches. But now even the journalists are heckling him!

And finally my highlight from the press conference yesterday

The company I mean

CH-020.3.024.448-9 Aktiengesellschaft 10.04.2001
is based in Zürich and not in Zug and was established on 10th April 01 . I of course agree that the "new" company is not any better than the "old" one, but legally a different company it is.

Add to this that the investigations about the "old" one were conducted by the Zuger Kantonspolizei, while now, the Zürcher Kantonspolizei would be in charge.

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

The Qatar decision was the worst decision in FIFA history. Blatter has a lot to answer for.

It was NOT Mr Blatter, but the delegates who voted for Qatar.

He brought and placed FIFA firmly to Zurich. And he apparently also brought an international Icehockey organisation (not as chief but just as friend of those chiefs) to Zurich. He so brought a lot of international traffic and business to Zurich (including international air-travellers). He continually brings marketing business to Zurich. So that respect he has earned. But he now, after his impending re-election, has to clear up the mess of which he partially is guilty. As the Malta chap yesterday said, "Mr Blatter knows this "shop" and so now is to do his duty"

Re: Mr Joseph Sepp Bellend Blatter - FIFA corruption

A colleague of mine were discussing how one might create some mischief at the election. Our conclusion was to turn up outside the venue waving some placards.

Current suggestions for placard text are:
1) "Thanks for the stadium/school/computers Sepp"
2) "Vote for Sepp. He's not corrupt. Honest!"

What would you put?

Kash.

As head of an organisation it is his job to know what is going on. You can't just hold your hands up and say you had no idea. It's your job to know, you idiot. The very least you can say about Blatter is that he has been asleep at the wheel. That's the VERY least. Financial irregularities have surrounded him ever since his election in 1998.
From this article,
http://www.football365.com/john_nich...960527,00.html

Interesting overnight as they sacked the whistleblower Chuck Blazer and then realised they couldn't and reinstated him.
Statement is here,

Amazing fiasco they are making of it all.

what I don't get about all of this is why the national FA's don't just say, screw you fifa and setup a new organisation. be nice and fair and and have a rota for who get the 'new' world cup, start alphabetically, job done, no bungs or kick backs needed.

unless of course they are all in on the scam

Not really a practical suggestion is it? If you ignore the current shenanigans, the organization as such, functions perfectly well. You can't deny FIFA's ability to market soccer and set up championships that are extremely successful, there are a bunch of good employees that make it happen. Just because the figurehead is as popular as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip, it doesn't make the whole fairground bad. (Cliché #789123).

why not??, its not rocket science to market an event, you just get a marketing company on the job. Same with setting up championships. the only difficult part would be persuading enough of the big countries to join in (germany, spain, france, brazil etc etc) offer enough money and they will come.

of course the whole of fifa is bad, if the top guys are busy giving and receiving bribes then you recon all the other staff don't know about it, turn a blind eye, accept them themselves??

I know a couple of people that work for FIFA and they seem to be perfectly respectable and honest folk. FIFA employs from all over the globe and if they clear this present mess up, I see no reason why they shouldn't continue in the same vein. Even if bribery is seemingly rife within the top levels of the directors, it hardly proves that the whole system is rotten. I have no idea what you do for a living but if your boss or fellow worker was taking bribes, why would they necessarily feel the urge to share their gains with you? By it's very nature, it's a very personal and discrete matter.
