| | Re: Swiss Franc Climbs to Record High | Quote: | | | | | So how much time do I have to transfer my entire CHF savings into a euro account before the rates return to normal? I usually have moral qualms about making easy money through financial shenanigans instead of hard actual work, but I realise this is mostly because I do not understand said shenanigans as they most often involve stocks, bonds, 3rd pillar investments etc. but a very favourable exchange rate that will not last I can comprehend. So? | | | | | Hi. I can give you a definitive answer; forget all the experts or low-post-count wannabes. The answer is "maybe".

For today. | | | | | You know, if anybody knew that sort of thing with certainty they wouldn't be playing around on the EF. They'd be borrowing as much money as possible to get rich fast. The fact that wê're here means we don't know. "Maybe" is thus the most accurate answer you can get.

The best time to do it was 2 years ago. Like normal, the markets are so much easier to predict in retrospect....sort of like everything! |

It seems like the SNB has drawn a line in the sand, and its at about 1.10.
I personally don't think the SNB has what it takes to tackle the forex market, and investors will certainly test the might of the SNB in the next 2-3 days.

What are the chances the franc will gain back the 6 cents it has lost so far today?

You think the CHF will fall even more in the short term? Interesting.

I personally don't think the SNB has what it takes to tackle the forex market, and investors will certainly test the might of the SNB in the next 2-3 days. | | | | | The SNB HAS what is required. This has been shown by predecessors of Mr Hildebrand. It is not his job to move the Euro UP but it is his job to stop the CHF rising. And it is his job to work for the national economy. He most likely will introduce negative interests on foreign money deposits in Switzerland. As Swatch chief Nick Hayek already said, the SNB will have to stay on course for days or weeks ahead. N.H. also stated that the speculators will of course buy up a good part of the added money on the market, but cannot sell it, as their selling of CHF reserves they hold will push the CHF back down. They only can use their CHF to do some real investments inside Switzerland, which is an interesting aspect.

Interesting. | | | | | While this would be good for Switzerland, it may be wishful thinking. It is alright if things can be stabilized at the current position (plus-minus 2 Rp).
