Compare it to the lakeside of Friedrichshafen (a city with a fraction of Zurich's population) and you'll see how once again, people in Switzerland are getting ripped off by inferior quality goods and lack of choices.

I know Friedrichshafen and I like the place. Zurich however is better in most points except the swimming area of FDH-lido. Strange that you do not mention Geneva, where the lakeside is rather better equipped than the one of Zurich.
Not irrelevant at all as it takes only 10 to 15 minutes to get there from the city center. Depending on where you live in London it might take you much longer to get to one of the big parks.
what can you expect from a city with a population of 380'000...
I like it though, for what it is...if you compare to a city back home, e.g. Malmö in Sweden which is of similar size and Zürich wins hands down, but compared to Stockholm Zürich has a long way to go...
I agree that is not vibrant, but it's getting better and better, with shops opened until 8 on Saturday's, and I find it very beautiful with the lake and the limmat and the alps in the background...
Hmm, im swiss, life on a little village at the Obersee/Zürichsee. For me, Zürich is quite nice. I dont life there but i think its a quite nice place. I dont care about bars and clubs since i hate them anyway. Im 20, so its unusuall. I got my alternative stuff where i like to go. I don't get whats good about a Badi/lido or a big club. Its so expensive (which idiot pays 8frankes for a beer?) the music sucks, the people suck and... i just dont like it, everywhere. But that doesnt matter.
I rly dont get it, why you ppl do limit yourself to one city. You are in switzerland...You are everywhere in a few hours. What does make a good vibranting city?
And by the way, i hope, i really REALLY hope, that Zurich never gonna be a 24/7h city. Its ed up that ppl have to work sundays or from 6 - 8. I hate that fastidious society. It's never like "ppl arent forec have to work there or it creates jobs".
but yeah, im strange. Just go to some little places, little concerts at not all the mainstream stuff, then ppl get smarter.
btw a city is more then entertainment. It looked like you are just talking about it, didnt read the whole thread.
So, but, can someone tell my when a city is vibrant? What does zurich lack of?
Ah btw i know zurich since im there every day. Went to school there and working there now.
sry for my english mistakes
btw it's your fault if you life IN a city...(i hope you get the meaning)

Yeah, i'd like too. Just have been in Eastbourne uk for 10 Months yet. I just dont get why ppl want so much. There's quite a lot stuff in zürich. Doesn't it really depend on each person? Liek for an IT freak, Zurich is very nice. Also when you open your eyes you catch stuff like a hitman game, nice art exhibition. But yeah, im probably wrong in this thread.
