Re: Swiss Men are "Mummies Boys" according to today's Times

I never understood the "mummy's boy" thing. I am an independent minded boy and I was born to an excellent mum. So yeah I am proud to be my "mummy's boy".

OP opinion was:

I'm not fascinated, i'm actually a proud Egyptian and totally appreciate our great history which i know people travel from all around the world to see and experience.
It is said that the dynasty of Tut.... came to Egypt from what nowadays is the Turkey-Caucasus region. In those times also the home of Germanic tribe, named "Alemans"

I think the OP was more interested in being insulted because somebody was suggesting a link on some screwed up basis, rather than WHICH link was being suggested....although saying that, I don't want to be claiming to understand the OPs motivation.

I am the facinated one, I am not accusing you of being facinated, or at least my mind is in small knots and I can't remember if I did.

I understand why you are a proud Egyptian, I think you come from a pretty cool culture/background/whatever we are going to call it.... my primary point of interest was in figuring out why you would think that a Swiss person should be proud of being told that they were realated to it?

Can the Swiss not just be proud of being Swiss? Do they really need to base their pride on "the Time" view of their genetic background? I mean who the hell really knows right, or cares possibly?
Whatever The Times wrote, it was based on a report in 20MIN here. Nobody here bases anything on an article in The Times, an article few people here have ever seen.

I always thought there was a fair amount of this in the swiss population--especially in the mountians. Selective imbreding have produced a lot of odd looking women with big feet---good for life in the mountains.
Look at European Royalty ! I however don't know about their feet.

Sort of like Obama and that pilot who recently (last year) landed in the Hudson all of the sudden became Swiss?

And it's great to see you using the Multi-Quote button, Wolli, but could you possibly limit it to posts that precede your reply? It's kind of disconcerting to read your replies to posts that hadn't been made at the time of your post, awesome though your superpowers undoubtedly are.

Have a look at the post that weejeem refers to, above, (# 50) then the next two posts (50 and 51), if you don't quite see what I'm getting at.
Moved the post DOWN, to have it after messages I responded to

Is the Times in any way related to the Rupert Murdoch media Empire? If so... that would explain a lot.
WTF!!!??? Did Murdoch wire-tap King Tuts phones as well!!!!

This is the last straw! We need to rise up and make news papers illegal!

Perhaps because it was revealed over a year ago that King Tut was genetically Western European, not the other way around.
No it was not. That was never confirmed,d it was a rumor based on some amateur people online trying to guess what they saw on stock footage from a TV show, that showed some genetic results of "someone" unknown. Please don't spread that meme around, it is unproven.

"Genetically Western European" is very difficult to prove, as almost every Y chromosome is shared throughout Western Eurasia and North Africa is varying frequencies. Trying to prove where they originated in Eurasia is generally inconclusive and highly debatable. There is no scientific consensus on most of them.

You can read more about this here:

http://montreal.ctv.ca/servlet/an/lo...b=MontrealHome

The key line being:

Quote:
The researchers didn't evaluate the DNA themselves; they say they made their findings "with the help" of a film made for the Discovery Channel.
That is no science, it is guess work, that has never been verified by anyone who actually did any testing on King Tut or any of his families remains.

Nature, a leading science mag reviewed these claims as well...they are not impressed...

I can't post the actual article here as it is behind a firewall, but here is a link to a blog that posted part of the original Nature article and links to iT:
