It might be worth reading about Donald Tusk (the prime minister) and Platforma Obywatelska (the major party in both the Sejm and Senat). | | | | | If so, Poland will get back to older positions of previous leaders who wanted to join the Euro. But of course, nobody in Warsaw wants to join before things in the Eurozone get back under control ....

| | Re: Swiss to Join Euro? | Quote: | | | | | I don't see Switzerland joining the Euro at all.
This financial crisis has shown the flaws of losing monetary policy sovereignty and has reduced the credibility of the Euro - in its current form - for the long term in my opinion. That is unless the Euro develops into a two-tier currency system (which I'm also sceptical about).
The European countries which still have their own sovereign currencies have tended to fare better economically than those that use the Euro during this financial crisis, excluding Germany (where the cheap Euro is benefiting their export market). | | | | | Not exactly my view but close enough; myself I do not see a viable two-tier currency system.

Most of all however, I hope that the UK stays out of the Euro, as them joining would bring the Euro down to CHF -.22 | | | | | I've got a stack of 20 pound notes at home I use when I run out of toilet paper. They make good fuel for the wood burner in winter.
On good news Cat is back in the UK next week!!! Spend Spend Spend!
UK needs the Euro just to upset the daily moan readers, then again the UK would probably fail the financial entry requirements.
Unfortunately they're not as good at blagging their way in unlike the greeks..We're far too honest for that sort of thing. |

This speculation is interesting but very poorly informed.
I am checking my crystal ball so that y'all can have a worthwhile opinion to debate.

It will not go back up to 2.4 CHF but I would expect 1 £GB = CHF 1.8 by mid 2013.

- already some Swiss presence
- locals are used to be dominated by German speakers
- "freier Blick aufs Mittelmeer" would become reality
- Heraklion becoming the main base of the commercial naval fleet
- the two Ständeräte from Kreta and the Nationalräte from Kreta
would increase the "diversity" in Bern
- Kreta-Tourismus would become part of Swiss inbound-tourism

One scenario that I haven't heard discussed yet is the option of paying all the foreign workers here in Euros instead of CHFs. Heaven knows that the SNB has plenty of Euros that they blew Swiss Francs on over the past few years.

| | Re: Swiss to Join Euro?
If CH joins the E.U then we will either have a mass immigration to CH or our salaries will be worthless. And no, Germany will not leave the E.U. They fought two wars trying to achieve what they have now, which is the largest most controlling voice in European politics. Do you think they would walk away from that? God forbid Switzerland joining the E.U.
In the end it really doesn't really matter what we think. We will all belong to one union or one government that rules the world. We're all ready half way there. Next up will be the Amero and the American Union.

Fixed that for you. We all know the swiss cant sail, just look at the lake on the weekend and try to find a sail boat that's actually moving faster than a swimmer.

| | Re: Swiss to Join Euro?
My take on it is as follows:
1. Should the Swiss debate joining the EU and/or the Euro?
- Yes, debate is very useful in a society that make conduct change through referendem.
2. Can anybody predict if Switzerland will ever join the EU or the Euro?
- Yes, of course I can and I can tell you as well that all my predictions are 100% accurate. Or course...there will be a little up front fee. |

I for one don't like Euros, I mean WTF, all those coins, 5 cents, 2 cents, 1 cent, why not add 3 1/4 cents, 7 cents. Pretty stupid. | Quote: | | | | | Are the rumours true that once 1 EUR = 1 CHF then the CHF will be pegged to the Euro with a view to joining the Euro later? I may have made it up. | | | | | |
