It seems to be a problem all over so is there a problem that needs to be addressed or are all the Civilized prosperous countries of the world supposed to just bend over and have all the illegal immigrants and economic refugees in the world over run the planet??
It can be done quite easily..
So the minute someone pushes back they are what?? I'm afraid not.
This politically correct world doesn't allow anyone to say anything that needs to be said anymore and it's all going to shit.
I don't agree or disagree with the right wing but since the Politicians don't have the "cojones" to do what needs to be done for fear of losing an election then it goes to the extremists.
Since there is a problem then it needs to be addressed because i have been personally affected by the low wage unqualified work without standards say nothing do nothing to upset the Boss type people and quite frankly there needs to be some Standards upheld.
Switzerland for example is qhat it is for the hard work and resourcefulness of the people here... Why should they have their Country diluted or ruined by people only here for the money??
Nay i say...
We can turn the whole world into a 4th world planet run by Corporations looking for cheap labor and people they can exploit.. It's rampant and Globalization has brought it on. THEY LIED!!!!

I am so evil, I felt such Schadenfreude, now I just feel guilty for not voting. It is the responsibility of all Swiss to vote.
Cannut, yes I think that this will undoubtedly spread, but the Swiss economy will suffer more than the German. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/0...html?ir=Comedy
It's a beautiful day here in SF. I will go to Chinatown. Massive Chinese investment here.

Dear Hoppy, Now I need to disclose details of my present to prove originality As this thread is getting more ridiculous with all the responses, it warranted explicit answer from me as well - hell why not? http://www.switzerwatch.com/english-...silverish.html All Swatch watches including the watch Silverish are made in Switzerland and have the finest Swiss technology and a quartz mechanism to give the maximum precision, they also have a resistance to water to at least 30 meters.

Did you read about the law Switzerland had to make to stop companies using the Swiss Made label? or Made in Switzerland label? You people are silly. You want to see Switzerland hurt because your egos have been hurt. You want to see Switzerland fail because you found out that Switzerland does need you. You thought you were more important to Switzerland than you are. Why would you want to see a country fail if you depend on them for your livlihood. You should accept what has happened and wish the best for the country but you are like the rest who want to come to the country for economic reasons. You don't care about Switzerland, you only care about greed. I have read many of your responses here and you only care about yourself. Why are you in Switzerland, you can leave now many people are waiting to work in Switzerland. You talk big before now you have your tail between your legs. There are more than a few Swiss who, when it comes to immigrants, would prefer to keep their coke dealer in Switzerland and kick us out instead. There's no doubt that the coke dealers around my way are enterprising, motivated, speak fluent French coming from the Cote d'Ivoire and elsewhere.
The referendum was simple do you like immigration ot not? There were no qualifications. If not then we're all in the firing line and it's for others to decide what value we bring to Switzerland.
I have to admit that I used to walk past the dealers in Jonction where I live thinking that one day the Swiss will get fed up with all this. It didn't occur to me that it's us they're fed up with (you work in IT as well I see!). I wish you all the best. | This user would like to thank Batcow for this useful post: | |

Enough.
What are the projections here:
a mindless middle class man will be able to decide whether I get a B permit or a C permit next time I have to renew my permit (now B permit, I will have been on B permit for 5 years next year), if I do not get it all due to quotas or what?
My daughter is 3 years old. Do I have any chance of giving her any stability or everything is going to be uncertain every time we need to take a new permit?
And Furthermore, will she have the same issues. And if yes, until when?
Your opinion on the matter, I do not care what you voted.

Apparently you are not one of the selfish ones. I agree that now immigrants to Switzerland will have to prove their worth more instead. Switzerland needs people who are really good not because they believe they are really good. OK I am done now I wanted to correct my earlier post. Good Bye |

Have you actually talked to Swiss people who state this is how they feel: that they prefer criminal immigrants who speak their language to lawfully-employed immigrants who don't? | Quote: | | | | The referendum was simple do you like immigration ot not? There were no qualifications. If not then we're all in the firing line and it's for others to decide what value we bring to Switzerland. | | | | | Actually, that's not what it said. I posted a link to the actual text of the initiative about 60 pages back; here it is again: http://www.admin.ch/ch/f/pore/vi/vis413t.html
Please take the time to have a look so you can be clear on what actually happened.
If we really must boil it down to a single sentence, the question was not "do you like immigration or not?" It was not even "do you prefer more immigration or less?" The question was "do you think immigration levels should be set by Berne or Brussels?"
Again: there's been no vote on whether immigration levels should be higher or lower, increasing or decreasing, tied to language skills or not. That's all pure speculation.
The only vote was that there should be some sort of upper limits; that said limits should be set independently by Switzerland, not by international treaties; and that employers' requests, "capacity to integrate", and independent financial means should be criteria for distributing permits within those limits.
Reading between the lines, that last bit means we're talking about the same sort of treatment already given to non-EU immigrants. Funny, I didn't hear all this yowling that those policies were unfair and xenophobic... must have missed that thread, I guess
