No, we are talking new negotiations with the EU. What's the frequency, Kenneth?
Negotiating what exactly, Kenneth?

Re: results on 9 Feb 14

And another BBC article:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-26108597

Results are supposed to be available on www.ch.ch, but the darn site's not working today. Must be taking the Swiss "Sunday is a day of rest" seriously.

No parkrunner of course you won't have to leave immediately. Any new laws/regulations are more likely to first curb future immigration than affect those already here. At least I hope so!

Anyone got a website with the results in English or French? I've no idea what's what in German.

Edit: Found one. Swiss info has the results.

So we are going to enter a period of uncertainty. Switzerland will remain that monkey on the back of the EU.

Argumentarium des SVP regarding the initiative, p 42.

Absolutely. We are talking about reinstalling quotas. It will all depend on how generous the quotas will be and who it will affect the most.
why on earth do EU want to re-negotiate this? they have not one single reason to...

Carried by just 19,516 votes (50.3%). It will be interesting to see how the quotas are set.

Personally, I don't think that it will have a major impact on the overall level of immigration. There will be the need for skilled workers so ways will be found to accommodate ehe needs of the big businesses.

There is already some level of limitation of immigration with the requirements for language skills and qualifications to secure employment. I have seen many jobs advertised that specify Swiss-German mother tongue or something similar.

Yeah - I was being a bit dramatic! I certainly hope I don't have to leave anytime soon. I like it here. And my german is improving a lot!

Regarding votes in CH generally, my understanding is that if a motion is proposed and gets enough initial support, then it goes to one of these national referendums.
But is there some kind of time limit on when they can be reversed? Could a pro-immigration party set up a motion for the next set of elections to remove quotas? You could have these tit-for-tat elections every 3 months!

No, it was Graham Greene (who wrote the screen play, and later the book).
Orson Welles just said what was written for him to say.
I read it somewhere else (book source), but at least here's an another one online

“This remark was added by Welles – in the published script, it is in a footnote. Greene wrote in a letter "What happened was that during the shooting of The Third Man it was found necessary for the timing to insert another sentence."”

Would be more apt to read Arthur Miller's 'View from the Bridge'.

A large proportion of the National Front in Southern France is made up of 2nd or 3rd generation of immigrants from Italy and Spain

I am truly shocked that it passed- but very proud today to be Romande. The % of the vote in Ticino is truly unbelievable, I'd say shameful.

Let us look a little bit into the future and see where the Hillbilly party will steer you to.

I think you have just shot yourselves in the foot. Silly.
You don't appear to even be in Switzerland!

When I arrived here in 1989 I heard over and over again how Switzerland was about to go under. The more so when the people rejected joining European Economic Area, a step to EU membership. I guess we'll be hearing these comments in 100 years' time too.

This result will delight the British and a number of other EU members who would love to vote the same...

Re: Masseneinwanderung Stoppen [initiative to limit immigration]

Wait a minute, translation issue here. In that context, verlangen and demand don't translate directly. In German, one has to say verlangen because the initiative leads necesarrily to new negociations. It is not the same connotation than in English. German word is purely technical, the English direct equivalent "demand" would have an arrogance the German one doesn't have.
