The Tages Anzeiger has already laid out three separate outcomes to the vote (Please read here for more information http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/schweiz/...story/10913193).
A rough translation of the highest outcome is provided below: It is more likely that Switzerland has to change the rules unilaterally to implement the initiative. This can be done by the Federal Assembly by the required quota is introduced by legislative amendment . Does the Parliament to do so within three years of adoption , the Federal Council must implement the initiative by ordinance .
However, the initiative does not contain any provision that Switzerland would have to terminate the Agreement.
There will be a lot of talk, but at this moment, I'm not sure how it will affect all of us "foreigners". Interesting times indeed.

maybe a stupid observation, but the initiative just calls for quotas...couldnt the government just place extremely high quotas that have no chance of being filled?

| | Re: Masseneinwanderung Stoppen [initiative to limit immigration] | Quote: | | | | | What's infantile about saying that isolation will hurt the Swiss economy and that in turn will lead to people getting fired that don't have permanent resident status? Please explain. | | Re: Masseneinwanderung Stoppen [initiative to limit immigration] | Quote: | | | | | I wonder how it would feel if EU proposed initiative introducing visitors permits for all the residents in Switzerland. That's a scary thought. Goodbye holiday makers | | | | | So sorry but THAT was the case. While France on its borders (airports for example) made channels for EEC+CH citizens all CH citizens in London Heathrow had to queue behind hundreds of peope from Africa and Asia and if looking anykind of Afro-Asian had no chance to slip. And that meant a difference of an hour
I personally suffered from that 30 or 40 times. Scary ? no no no no scary it it is not but idio0tic it is. And at all times when EU/SVP played the ugly cards (the EU again and again support Ayatollah Blocher while declaring the contrary) I tried to take it with humour

Yes the initiative was passed by a huge margin….:roll eyes:
so what you are directly saying is that approx. 50% of the Swiss has no common sense... | The following 3 users would like to thank OSueco for this useful post: | | This user groans at OSueco for this post: | |
