Clear is that now, the Union would not again rescue the UBS but allow foreign Investors to get into the UBS

Come on now, that's harsh. I think it's clear that Wolli meant that the Swiss federal government would not bail UBS out again, instead allowing foreign investors to inject the required funds.

Which, in the context of a discussion on the relationship of the franc to the euro, absolutely perfect sense makes.

UBS and CreditSuisse were deleveraging in the after-crisis years. It's ZKB, which was growing like crazy. This time around it could be ZKB which goes under. And ZKB is guaranteed by the canton of Zurich...

When the UBS got into shit, the Union bailed them out. Right now, it would not be done again.

Yeah, right. Remember what happened to the cantonal banks of Solothurn and Appenzell-Ausserrhoden?

Re: SNB Pegs CHF to the EUR!!! [and the aftermath of the removal of the cap]

This is an interesting graph (and article):

http://moneyweek.com/chart-of-the-we...-strong-franc/

As far as I know, Japan's economy had a similar behavior during the 70's and 80's: the yen appreciated heavily against the dollar but exports also robustly grew, defying economic logic.

Since there are already lay offs caused by the appreciation of franc, what will happen in the next year or so: Will CH get into a recession or will it be able to maneuver it like it did in the last 30 years?

Exports figures alone are little more than noise (e.g. 100bln in exports would be largely irrelevant if imports were 1trln). What counts is the balance (trade in this case), and even more so Trade plus Services Balance, as that's where a big portion of demand for CHF originates from.

Re: SNB Pegs CHF to the EUR!!! [and the aftermath of the removal of the cap]

a lot of things happened in the 90s here. In Vaud we had the BCV Cantonale Bank to almost go out of business. Who would you think is at biggest risk now? Who grew the fastest last years?

I am sure the banks would be protected one way or the other as it (still) is the Swiss unique selling point

Nothing unique with Swiss banks anymore, they disclose data or confiscate tax now on hidden assets in many jurisdictions including the UK
