Calmy-Rey to resign?

Various rumors in the Romandie press this morning point towards Bundesrat Micheline Calmy-Rey resigning during the course of today.

Calmy-Rey was only the fourth ever woman to serve in the Bundesrat when she was elected in December 2002 and took up her post in 2003. Currently in Foreign Affairs, and after also being only the second woman ever to serve as Confederation President (after Ruth Dreifuss) her resignation would clearly be filled with another SP nominee during the December Bundesrat vote and I'd presume that another woman would be favored.

This just in:

The Tribune de Genève suggests that her two most likely replacements are both men:

La course à la succession est ouverte. Les deux papables le plus souvent cités sont le conseiller d’Etat vaudois Pierre-Yves Maillard et le conseiller aux Etats fribourgeois Alain Berset.

That's why companies don't like hiring women. They just bugger off at the drop of a hat to have babies. Or something.

In all due fairness to her Skunk-likeness, I think that her active breeding days are probably just a fond memory now. And that's about as far as I'll ever go in defending a socialist

That's what you call "defending"??

I think she just got jealous of Doris getting all the fan mail. I think that Doris should be made permanent president or queen or something. I think Doris is lovely.

*sigh*

Swiss federal councillors are traditionally reelected, as long as they chose to serve in the federal council (there have only be 4 federal councillors that have not been reelected since the founding of the confederation). They chose for themselves when it is time to go. Sometimes this happens under pressure from their colleagues or the media, but often it is just their personal decision. There have been many federal coucilors who were highly popular, but despite of this stepped down, just because they thought, that they were in federal council long enough.

Ah, I like her. She's gutsy and offered a good balance in the Bundesrat. I'll miss her.

She should have scored some good political points if she had introduced Uncle Fester as a renewable energy source.

Hey what's the drama. I think she's free to decide whether she wants to go for another round or not is she not.
And for the haircut, she's got by far the best, suits her very well. all the other ladies really need a serious re-look done though. honest.
public people should look after themselves more.

Couldn't agree more. They should name a public holiday after her. They could call it Doris Day!

...yes, Calmy-Rey is pregnant!!!

btw, it's better to have a women away for having a baby than that insane and useless annual military service for men

Re: Calmy-Rey to resign?

On second thoughts, I should have run with the Carl Hirschmann Jr Jr story and alleged sex orgies with under age girls than Ms. Calmy-Rey; this thread has turned into a Doris fetishist site for middle aged lonesome men.
