When you read the report above properly you will see that it is NOT "for the Islamic market" (whatever this is) but clearly "for the Saudi Arabian market",

Because the "cross" is more or less prohibited by Saudi law, and because the Saudi kingdom is an extremely conservative and fundamentalist country.

Add to this that the relatively reform-minded king is heavy in his 80ies and the Crown Prince is far more conservative.

"Islamic" means Muslim, but the markets of Muslim countries do NOT demand such steps. It is only some stubborn and arrogant and pompous countries like Saudi Arabia who make such moves necessary. "The Islamic market" does NOT, and so, the statement I criticized very simply is WRONG !

Sure, but Mekka+Jeddah is as much the center of the Muslim World as VaticanCity is the center of the "Catholic World". Centers of the Muslim World, far more relevant to most Muslims in the world are places like Casablanca, Cairo, Beirut, Damascus, Istanbul and Tehran. And as rich as Saudi Arabia is, it is only a relatively small country in the Arab World with its 28 mio people, if compared to Morocco with 33 or Algeria with 36 mio. and Egypt with 82 mio. You might now argue that the 28 mio Saudi Arabians have more economic weight than Egypt, but Egypt, unlike the KSA has a wide ranging industry (machinery, instruments, chemicals etc) AND an infuential film and media industry. Which means that people in Muscat, Baghdad, Beirut, Tunis, Casablanca watch films produced in Egypt, have Egyptian construction companies in involved in real estate construction, employ Egyptian and Lebanese and Palestinian teachers.

Again, if the KSA establishes certain specific rules it is NOT "Arab rules" or "Muslim rules" but it is "Saudi Arabian rules" and if foreign companies have to yield they yield neither to "the Arab market" nor the "the Muslim market" but quite clearly to "the Saudi Arabian market".

You are free to DISagree, but then, you prove that German politician right who recently boasted "Europe speaks German again" ....... and the German market to Europe is what Egypt+SaudiArabia COMBINED would be to the Arab World
