I would have voted for the Pirate Party as well, but they don't appear to have any candidates where I live :-/

I wonder how many votes some Swiss men have - if they are given their voting slip by their mums, grannies and aunties!?

Until I have my own vote here, I try to brainwash my OH and his family to vote my way, though I haven't managed to get my hands on their ballots
But seriously, I read in a Romande magazine that there is a marked lack of interest in voting among young Swiss women. It may be similar in other countries, especially amongst young people on general, but I find it especially sad here because from the outside looking in, this system of direct democracy means that every vote may actually count
(I of course believe every vote always counts in the absence of corruption, but here it seems more obvious and concrete as compared to the electoral system in my own country.)

I'm really annoyed with myself for missing it . I can't believe the polling station closed at 9:30 this morning! I worked til 3am and just missed it because I didn't wake up in time. There's no wonder the bad guys keep winning - what kind of person gets up and goes to vote at 8am on a Sunday! (yes I know, it's my own fault and I AM annoyed with myself, but really - 9:30!!)

Maybe next time you could use the envelope provided to post your vote. That way you could sleep peacefully and still have your say. | The following 4 users would like to thank Oldhand for this useful post:

Or drop it off in the special post box at your commune/town (for free) anytime up to the day of the vote. | The following 2 users would like to thank Verbier for this useful post:

I waited until the last minute as well. I found smartvote.ch pretty useless. Being told a candidate agrees with me 62% isn't really a great way to choose. In the end I looked at how the candidates that were suggested voted in the 2007 Bundesrat election and that was the deciding factor.
Oh, and I was also advised to vote for the Pirate party. I'm wondering if there was a bit of bias by the programmers?

That's funny. We are voting down here in Argentina as well. Big election, presidential. But we are not expecting any big surprises. Cristina is expected to win hands down. Oh, and by the way, everyone has to vote. It's mandatory.
