A humoristic lesson on Swiss geography!

This comedian is called Marie-Therese Porchet (it is a HE!) and is French speaking Swiss, although he speaks superb Swiss German. In this clip, he does poke a bit at "les Bourbines" (this is how the French-speaking Swiss call the German-speaking Swiss), but even if don't have too much French, it still makes good entertainment (always is when the Swiss have a go at each other!). Enjoy!

You have made an error in your post. Nothing is funny in French, except the French themselves.

I spit in their general direction.

Unless I've missed something, such as sarcasm, in which case I apologise, you seem to be embedded in bitterness and prejudice. You need to get out more!

Re: A humoristic lesson on Swiss geography!

I really wasn't expecting to laugh at this- but it was brilliant! Though the last bit, I'm not sure if I missed something. We call those rags serpillere here, much to the amusement of the French (not Swiss-French) I know.

It's true that the poor "Cornelia", the one and only Swiss German in the audience, must have felt a little odd!

While "Pruntrut" does not sound nice, "Porrentruy" is not better at all. It both ways is almost as bad as "Gunzgen" And then, there on the Lake of Geneva is the village of Mies. If you pronounce it in French, alright, but if you pronounce it in German !!! And while Solothurn sounds respectable, "Soleure" sounds like a cheap washing device And Murten sounds better than Morat and while Biel sounds alright, Bienne reminds me of what is called in German "ä Bänne". Sure, Sierre sounds nicer than Siders, Lago Maggiore far nicer than "Langensee"

Alright, an excellent comedian nevertheless

The person definitely is a very gifted artist. An artist of the kind where you laugh, even if not agreeing, because this artist has a nice way to bring "le point" over

This "Cornelia" of course was NOT from Luzern, but a member of the "troup"

Add to this that this entertainer quite correctly pointed to the lack of imagination of many people on "our" side of the Röschtigraben. When being asked about how you are, you should reply NOT by "guet" but by
-- äs mag i'ee
-- äs halted sich im Rahme
-- sääär guet
-- sowiit ganz guet

There's a point in the video where she makes a big thing about "bigot." Is she referring to the German pronunciation of the word "baguette" or is she talking about something else?

I did see a clip where I actually was able to understand 90% of what she was trying to say.

"The economic capital is Zurich, the diplomatic capital is Geneva [Does Bern know about this?], and the ANATOMICAL capital is in Glaus(?)."
