Never knew about it until now.

Sorry, but that list seems rather odd.
5 Swiss & 7 USA out of 16 'world' finalists?

The cynic in me is saying that this along with a conspicuous lack of any French, British or Italian finalists means all is not as it seems.

Reminds of me the Judgment of Paris ( French decided the Californian wines were superior )

One of our local Gruyères producer, from La Brévine, NE, was champion for 2 years running

2010 WORLD CHAMPION

If you ever drive through la Brévine, in Switzerland's Little Siberia near le Locle - he has an outside distributor where you can buy his cheese at any time of day or night.
