Coop forced to shut shops

Coop has had a major problem with their computerised sales system in the German "half" of the country, forcing shops to shut this morning. Hopefully many 50% off labels on meat etc when they again open later this morning / this afternoon.

Re: Coop forced to shut shops

I got excited there for a moment (by the headline in the post) that the Coop/Migros duopoly was being challenged by the authorities!

Should have known better

Re: Coop forced to shut shops

They are apparently back online - although people were reporting on FB five minutes ago that the doors are still closed.

Re: Coop forced to shut shops

And they are now reported to all be open again.

They made an upgrade to the software last night, but the error was not found until the shops opened this morning. Nice to know good testing procedures are in place. Pity the poor bugger who made that costly mistake.

(and yes my choice of title for the thread was piss poor - must try harder next time )

Catchy though .

And it gave me a nice feeling in the stomach for a minute (until I read the article).

I don't think we'll be that lucky, with Easter just around the corner.

Crazy how much we depend on technology these days.. go figure! I'm a Migros regular with 10x cumulus points on Thursdays (=10% off everything).
