Poll about European Tourism: Switzerland 0 points

Travelportal Zoover had a poll about hospitality.
Austria on first place. Switzerland 23rd and last place.
I'm not surprised at all.

For someone who says that you sure take criticism badly. Is it because hubby forgot to fuel the car and you can't figure out how it's done?

Off topic shorick. My opinion. I choose not to fill the car fyi. Perfectly capable and can take all your venom. The Swiss think it is perfect here. Many on here agree with me that it is not. Fact. Get over it.

Re: Poll about European Tourism: Switzerland 0 points

Zoover is not a big name in traveling as far as I know.
Switzerland has heart of alps, although without the highest point, and that is something that cannot be substituted (in europe at least). Of course you can go skiing or trekking to france/austria/italy, cheaper, maybe closer depending where you live.
I have feeling Switzerland is mostly for swiss people, and tourists/expats are on the second place. I don't see problem there, people are nice and polite, just respect the rules (maybe that's the problem for many?).
And it has the best place for living I have seen on this tiny planet - Lausanne

Re: Poll about European Tourism: Switzerland 0 points

In the olden days rich Europeans would send their difficult daughters to Switzerland to attend a "Finishing School" where they learned how to be graceful and how to behave in diplomatic functions.

Whatever happened to these schools? We could definitely offer some extra training to our hosts, on how to be nice to people even though you do not enjoy their company.

Isn't that the major problem here? The Swiss do not like foreigners very much, and at best suffer their prescence here.

No, this is not a swiss vs. foreigner problem as you will experience lack of service even as a swiss. Especially when compared to Austria where they have an excellent hospitality culture. Same should be possible here. On the other side I had some really good experience in Switzerland too.

Re: Poll about European Tourism: Switzerland 0 points

I looked at the Zoover website, and the hotels all have good marks, so where are the bad guys? Why is Switzerland bottom of the league? Do you have a link to the poll results please? http://www.zoover.ch/schweiz

Even this appartment hotel which has a low 6.7 rating out of 10 points has quite good reviews over 6 years

Well, well, well..look ahere. Why doesn't this surprise me. The best part about it is, that the Swiss think their country is the best.
So, as I asked before, I wonder how long it will take for Switzerland to get the wakeup call to join the 21st century. It's not the 70s anymore....

Re: Poll about European Tourism: Switzerland 0 points

Of course the Swiss think their country is the best. Financially, it is. The standard of living is quite high too and they've got mountains and scenery to kill for. To top it all off, Austria is right next door so if they really want some hospitality, that's where they'll go.

Seems quite logical to me.

I can't take a poll seriously that ranks Austria as top of the hospitality list.

All that needs to be done is to take away automatic tips from bills. Pay people in the service industry very little, and have them earn their tips.

problem solved.

If you'd speak one of the nation's languages you could actually read the article and would know that the 90% of the Swiss agree with the statement in their comments...

There's no denying it, Swiss hospitality is pretty bad, the fact that salaries are so bad that only those Swiss who can't do anything else work in hospitality doesn't help either... But Austria has a lot of foreigners working in tourism as well, and they're much friendlier than the ones who work here, so it's definitely a home grown problem.
