I hope you find him soon and healthy, I pray for him.

I was wondering are there not any cameras that police can check around those areas he was seen? Maybe a security camera of a shop, etc?
The police have told us that they were reviewing security camera footage from the train stations after the initial sightings, in order to verify the reports. We have also asked them about shops or other cameras near places that he had been seen, but I don't know if there has been any progress on that front.

I believe the police are very involved and looking at many ways of finding him.

Fingers crossed
Yes, the police have been involved from the first minutes after he was known to be missing, and I have been in close (sometimes nearly constant) contact with them. Every piece of information or any new idea that someone has we report to the police, in addition to trying to investigate or verify it ourselves.

And note to Itzoe: sorry this is in public, but I cannot reply to your PM due to newbie limit - N is not missing any limbs, but unless the person is completely sure that the person she saw was missing something I think she should report it to the police.

Thank you all again so much, we truly appreciate any and all ideas and all of the energy that you have put in for us.

Thanks for replying, I have told my friend the same and advised that unless she is very certain then to call the number given and report it

Re: 18 yr old boy missing from St Legier - after walking out of school

Bernard - THANK YOU SO MUCH. The last reports were that he was wearing dark clothes. He has not been spotted yet this morning.

Imerkel - cannot PM, but yes, please post and publicize widely. At one point yesterday he was seen at the giratoire in front of the Nestle building.

Thanks again all, we are still searching as actively as possible, but we don't know what he might be doing or thinking so it's hard to guess where to concentrate attention.

Re: 18 yr old boy missing from St Legier - after walking out of school

No real news, except that the train stations have not panned out. There was also a report that he might have gone up toward Mont Pelerin on the funi last night around 17.00. He used to skateboard, I don't think he has one with him now but maybe someone might have seen him there.

He was also possibly seen last night around 21.00 at the ice cream vendor by the lake near the chateau in La Tour de Peilz, but the police tried following up and didn't find him.

He seems to be staying in the local area, his 'comfort zone'. If he does stay around Vevey, and maybe even Lausanne, I hope that will all the people alerted that he will turn up today. If he goes further, then it will be more difficult.

i hope your son is back home quickly. however, i cannot believe the swiss police look very incompetent in trying to locate him, if he was spotted several times and they were following his trail but could not find him?

There have been pluses and minuses police-wise. But it is very easy to disappear quickly on foot, and if the patrol is not right there, then it is hard to quickly and correctly target the next move.

His friends were also searching and had missed him by a very small number of minutes in 2 different places yesterday, and a pack of them split up and moved quickly in all different directions, but they could not find where he went. So I don't think that it is just the police. The police have responded quickly to follow up on information that has been provided to them. It's just unfortunate that we haven't got the results from that.

It is very frustrating not to have been able to find him yesterday with the multiple sightings. It felt like we were so close yesterday, but today it seems much farther. We still have had no reported sightings. I think he might be trying to lay low now, at least I hope. Other possibilities are that he has gone out of the region or has harmed himself. We are hoping that he is still in the area and just working himself up to come back, but we don't really know.

Re: 18 yr old boy missing from St Legier - after walking out of school

I wish I could be up there helping look, and if things have not changed by tomorrow afternoon, please post an update as it is the weekend and many people could find a way to come join in the search. We had a friend who decided to take off a few years back and it was so hard, I can only imagine how much harder it is with your son.

One thing I would like to pass along that the police told us back then - he is doing what he is doing because he has managed to convince himself it is best to be where he is. If anyone sees him other than a close family member, please do not approach him. Call the police, stay your distance but keep him in sight so when the police arrive, you can point him out and they can use their training to talk to him. If you go up to him or call his name, he will not know why if he does not know who you are as he may not have a clue his picture is being circulated.

thoughts and prayers to his family, and most of all, best wishes for when he is back safely in your arms!

Re: 18 yr old boy missing from St Legier - after walking out of school

And let me just add again that we truly appreciate everyone's efforts and the good thoughts and prayers that have been sent out. The support that we have received from friends, students and their families, the school, the police, acquaintances, and complete strangers is overwhelming and touching. Everything from positive thoughts, 'thinking of you', practical support in terms of food, transportation, and the hours and hours of time and unlimited energy that everyone is investing is so greatly appreciated, more than any words I could say.

Yes, this is the advice that the police have given and that we are also giving: Please call the police and give the location and his description, keep him in sight if you can, but do not approach.

Thank you for pointing this out for everyone.

You're in my thoughts and I hope this will come to a good end. Did you post his picture and missing alert on Facebook? It reaches a lot of people and maybe someone has news about him.

Re: 18 yr old boy missing from St Legier - after walking out of school

Lets try and keep the posts positive in the time of urgency...the last thing the family needs is to read negative connotations against any organization especially the police.....

Its about sending positive prayers and thoughts to family and friends....the great news I am reading is that he has been spotted, that in itself is positive.

If there is a way of helping in the search please let us know so that we can join in. But the best advice as already written is call the police if you spot him...they have individuals who are trained professionals.

Yes there is a missing alert on facebook. We and the police are also trying to track him through his computer but so far no luck.
