The Olympic open ceremony thread

I usually don't like watching opening ceremonies but this one is really nice. Very creative. Very impressive.

So far, so good.

Drumming is great - as is the music ..... continually building towards a crescendo, yet never quite getting there ...... oh it just has.

She must have been coached by George H.W. Bush.

Re: The Olympic open ceremony thread

I was very impressed with what I saw of the opening ceremonies last night. Unfortunately, not only did NBC not give me or my fellow countrymen the opportunity to see the ceremony live, they decided not to air the part which honoured the victims of the 7/7 bombing seven years ago.

My only criticism of the ceremonies was this---it's not often that you get the chance to hear the Olympic Hymn sung in English, so I was disappointed in the organizers' decision only to play an instrumental version when the Olympic Flag was raised.

Re: The Olympic open ceremony thread

I think it was a lookalike of the Queen.

Quote:
We saw a video of Daniel Craig - Mr Bond - walking into Buckingham Palace, having a quick exchange with the Queen and then the two of them appeared to get into a helicopter, and then we see the helicopter coming over the stadium. I'm not very far away from the stadium, I'm seeing the lights and all the rest of it. And then all of a sudden you see two figures parachute out of the helicopter. And then the Queen walks into the stadium wearing exactly the same outfit as the look-alike who got into the helicopter.

So if you want to know how Britain was going to approach this Opening Ceremony that is the moment that people are going to be talking about, that Her Majesty the Queen was prepared to take part and have a little fun with it all.

Re: The Olympic open ceremony thread

Morgonella was quite a punk during the game - I thought he was going to get in a full on scuffle. Glad he has been kicked off the squad, sorry for the team, maybe this will teach him some humility?

Just watched the fireworks. Really nice and impressive. Reminded me of the Battle of Britain Memorial Fireworks I saw life in London in 1990 or 91

How long is this going to continue? I'll just ask nicely: please stop posting these childish clips on a thread about the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Thank you.

Re: The Olympic open ceremony thread

Closing Cermony - If its anything like the opening ceremony I look forward to it with eager anticipation. Luckily I have been working on the project since early last year so I hopefully, like the opening ceromony I will be fortunate to get a ticket. Albeit, it will be really difficult!
