Most and least attractive communes in CH are...

Most: Hünenberg, ZG
Least: Gerlafingen, SO

According to a survey in the Weltwoche

I'd post a link, but you need a sub to view the PDF.

(Out of interest, VsG is 192nd, and the 2nd most attractive in FR )

Re: Most and least attractive communes in CH are...

according to that list, communes with a lot of cows (some even call themselves politicians) are very attractive

Risch no 2, yippee. and yes we are close to cows and goats. But its only 15-20 minutes to Luzern, 35 minutes to Zurich. Good for families. Certainly wouldn't want to be young and single living here.

Re: Most and least attractive communes in CH are...

I personally don't quite get the massive attractiveness of places like Hünenberg - once tiny villages that have become surrounded by residential and high-tech industrial sprawl over the last 30 years, have lost what character they may once have had and are neither town nor really country. A lot of ZG is like this.

I can understand, though, that these places may seem very attractive to people working in Zürich who are looking for a quick "escape to the country" at the end of the working day.

Hunenberg by the lake is quite nice. How would you differentiate Baar from Hunenberg?

Agreed, Hünenberg See is very nice in a high-end residential way. It doesn't have any charm though, it's lacking a village centre. Baar is not particularly pleasant (especially the bit where I live), I just happened to land there on arrival in a region that I didn't know.

I'm not particularly charmed by the small towns/villages of central Switzerland in general, to be honest. There are too many places where upmarket residential development has just destroyed the original atmosphere of the place. This hasn't happened to the same extent in places like NE or FR, perhaps because there simply isn't enough wealth to allow it to happen.

Re: Most and least attractive communes in CH are...

I don't think there is a factor for area beauty nor for public transport.

As it's from a right wing magazine it must all be about money. Very useful all the same.

I found it interesting that neighbouring villages can be rated quite differently, viz.
Solothurn 353, Langendorf at position 449, and Gerlafingen at the bottom, 876

Re: Most and least attractive communes in CH are...

How do they define "dynamik" in that list?

Basel is the 800th most dynamic Gemeinde in Switzerland, and Oberkirch LU is the 2nd most dynamic.

I really can't think of a definition of "dynamic" that fits that off the top of my head, unless it means nearness to cows and mountains

There's some weird rankings in there - Schlieren ranks higher than anywhere in Cantons Bern, Solothurn or Baselland (except Sissach!), for example. Anywhere. OK, tax is low and Zurich is on the doorstep but seriously... Schlieren nicer than everywhere in BE/SO/BL? It seems a bit odd to me.

Quite the opposite in my experience. Smaller, rural communes have far higher tax rates due to the lower wealth generation. Certainly in Fribourg anyway.
VsG, effectively a suburb of Fribourg, has one of the lowest tax rates in the canton, due to the presence of several large, successful companies and a relatively high-earning population.

You sure? What's the name of your commune? Or are you as yet unwilling to divulge such sensitive information?
