Of course, legally it wouldn't matter at all, but it could explain a huge lot.
the details about her

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_Ritzmann

are interesting ... but do not say too much about her husband. If he was/is a bore, she may have been intrigued about Mr Mörgeli

Headline in Tagesanzeiger today " Case Mörgeli: University of Zurich admits error"

The new Rector said they made mistakes in the dismissal of Prof. Ritzmann.

This affair is gathering ever more victims. Now they concluded the old rector and Appli did not behave correctly and charges being laid against the NZZ.
Turning into a massacre.

Re: Serious allegations against Professor Christoph Mörgeli

Was announced today that Mörgeli lost his case against SRF "Rundschau". If I understood the report correctly this was not due to the facts of the case but because Mörgeli did not follow the process correctly. If this is correct then it is very similar to the reasons given for his dismissal.
Could not happen to a nicer chap!

Mörgeli says he will appeal this ruling

Re: Serious allegations against Professor Christoph Mörgeli

Announced today that Zürich Nationalrätin Kathy Riklin (CVP) will have to go to court to answer charges that she told journalists information about Mörgeli that breached secrecy Rules.
Professor Ritzmann has to face similar charges about giving journalists information about Mörgeli that breached secrecy Rules.

Somehow strangely contrasts with the decision that the correspondence between Blocher and Weltwoche in the Hildebrand affair is protected by freedom of the Press.
Sounds like one law for the rich and one for the poor?

Talks between ""well informed people"" about general aspects are legally protected (Mr Blocher IS a lawyer), while giving specific info about legal affairs is NOT

The actual decision was documents that were "was dem Quellenschutz der Medien unterliege" are protected - this sounds to me more like "freedom of the Press" than protection of "talks about general aspects".

Which is why I do not understand the actions against Riklin and Ritzmann.

Court action proceeds today against Professor Iris Ritzmann; it was already decided today that the central piece of evidence (a data CD) is not allowable.
Seems to be a gift from Blocher ; if I understood correctly it was decided on similar grounds to the decision that the correspondence between Blocher and Weltwoche in the Hildebrand affair is protected by freedom of the Press.
Case continues......

It was also recently announced that the case against Zürich Nationalrätin Kathy Riklin (CVP) was decided in Frau Riklin's favour.
The papers claim that Mörgeli has appealed against this decision. So more time and tax payers money to be spent on these proceedings.
In hindsight it would have been a lot cheaper to have given Mörgeli a couple of millions to go away.

About "Seems to be a gift from Blocher" According to the NZZ the judge said
«Was für Herrn Blocher gilt, gilt vorläufig für alle.»

So it seems that Blocher by obtaining an agreement that his correspondence was protected by freedom of the Press did inadvertently help Ritzmann

It was announced today that Professor Iris Ritzmann was found not guilty, mostly because the key evidence was rejected by the court based on the "Blocher" precedent.
The prosecutor (also an SVP member) now said he will appeal the Ritzmann acquittal to the supreme court; possibly this appeal could bounce back to the original Blocher decision!!
Almost as much fun as a TV series with the constant action! Except it is all costing us tax payers millions.
According to Tagesanzeiger today Mörgeli also misses out due to this verdict: As a private plaintiff, he wanted around 10,000 francs damages for pain and suffering because of job loss and reputation damage. The court rejected his claim but without giving a reason.

Re: Serious allegations against Professor Christoph Mörgeli

The Zürich Kantonrat have decided yesterady by 112 votes to 52 to allow Regine Aeppli to keep her immunity from prosecution.
Mörgeli's lawyers are unhappy with this decision but I do not know if this can be appealed or escalated.
Mörgeli must be spending a fortune on lawyers

Re: Serious allegations against Professor Christoph Mörgeli

The Sonnagszeitung said on Feb 15 that Manfred Küng (Mörgelis attorney) had announced that they would appeal the Aeppli-immunity decision at the Bundesgericht.

Additionally, last summer, M. Küng reported ex-ETHZ-Rektor Fischer. Küng demands that Fischer should have sat out during decisions on Mörgeli because Fischer previoulsy had publicly stated his opinion on Mörgeli.

Re: Serious allegations against Professor Christoph Mörgeli

The Sonntagszeitung published a report here today about the investigation into Mörgeli's dismissal.

So far as I understood the article Mörgeli came out a little ahead.
It is a long article but briefly the university did not follow the correct dismissal procedure so must pay Mörgeli an additional 3 months salary - I guess this will not cover the legal bills which are rumoured to be in 7 figures.
They also concluded that the dismissal was OK on the grounds of "lack of loyalty" related to comments about university members.
Nothing was reported about Mörgeli's request to be reinstated.
