US - Hands off our chocolates!

Saw this on the Local website the other day:

http://thelocal.ch/page/view/swiss-c...r-bioterrorism

Really, this is getting just too ridiculous for words. Are they going into Cadbury's factories as well? Or Belgium's? What is their hangup with Switzerland?

Re: US - Hands off our chocolates!

Why do the U.S. think that the Swiss would try and poison them with their chocolate?

Surely their having a fair crack at doing it to themselves with their Hershey bars?

My husband feels the same, he can't stand the taste of Hershey bars.

I see The Local is on top of things as usual. This was in the regular news several weeks ago.

that's not a fair comparison.
Hershey's are dog treats or something, aren't they? We're talking chocolate here.

Re: US - Hands off our chocolates!

Nah, it's in retaliation for banning their factory farmed beef.

On a worrying note, will this mean the chocolate factories will have to install iris security scanners at the
employee's entrance, just in case a terrorist slipped into the factory after the inspection with some cyanide...

But then are they going to inspect the chocolate bean growers in the tropical countries?

This is just getting ridiculous. was destroying centuries of banking tradition not enough. now they have to come after our chocolate. Someone needs to tell them in no unclear terms to F*** off. Theres a reason we dont join the EU and keep ourselves to ourselves so people dont come and mess with our way of life.

Re: US - Hands off our chocolates!

You guys know that I'm usually USA all the way, but this is really stupid. Does anyone know if the US (or anybody else) does this for any other food import?

BTW I found a live caterpillar in my COOP broccoli the other day. Now There's where we need some quality control!

When I find a live caterpillar in my veg - I see it as a good thing - it means that the vegetables was not sprayed with buckets of harsh pesticide like the stuff in the U.S.

How incredible paranoiac is this? I think we should found a charity and pay them some descent psychiatrists. There are clearly some American brains around in desperate need of repair.

Taste!?! What taste? I didn't know that earwax counted as a chocolate "flavour"...

Anyway, this is just another way for the US to put pressure on Switzerland. Got nothing to do with bioterrorism.

Re: US - Hands off our chocolates!

What horrible things are the Swiss doing!

First, no single American citizen paid taxes because all money disappeared to Switzerland.

Then, most US companies loose their major source of income because of Swiss illegal downloading.

Then they ruin innovation by complaining to Apple about the use of their clock in iOS 6.

And now the chocolate. I am pretty sure that all obesity in the US is caused by Swiss cholocate.

These Swiss guys must be stopped!

Yeah, like that's really going to happen. F*** off America! We don't need your export business. Shut us off to the U.S. chocolate market, you're doing us a favor!

In your dreams.

Re: US - Hands off our chocolates!

I don't think it's the chocolate that's the issue per se.

It's the more sinister not-directly-related-to-the-chocolate questions they're wanting answers to that has people annoyed. Ie how many employees...how many are American and/or not natives are on the payrole...What's your financial turnover etc.

Doesn't cocoa contain natural traces of cyanide anyway, just as virtually all bitter fatty seeds do?
