Zürich Kanton takes more use of the öV than all others

A study reveals that the people of the Canton of Zürich per person taike more use of public transport than anybody else in Switzerland

Let's not forget that many cardrivers when going downtown park their cars in a good location and continue their travel by public transport, that way combining the comfort of their car

BUT it clearly shows that the people of the Canton of Zürich have developed a positive attitude towards Public Transport, which also can be seen in public votes, supporting public transport

And in breaking news, rural dwellers drive tractors 73% more often than townies.

Now there's a surprise -- the inhabitants of Switzerland's largest, most densely-populated, most expensive city are more likely to use public transport than the residents of less congested towns where parking is cheap or free..

Not to mention: Living out in the boondocks, you can't get there from here.

I just checked my most frequent car trip. Takes me exactly 28 minutes by car, door to door. According to the SBB, it would take 1.5 to 2.25 hours by public transportation. Assuming I actually made all the tight connections.

I'll take the train if I am going into Zürich city. But for most other travel - car is the only option that makes sense out here in the sticks.

You mean less congested cities and not densely populated towns like Geneva and Lausanne and Bern and Basel, where the inhabitants drive tractors !

The study compared only towns of more than 50'000 inhabitants. Also those who checked these things know about reality in the "outbacks"

ÖV is "Öffentlicher Verkehr" - "Transports publics" - public transportation

But yeah, a bit of an obvious one..
