Olten, the new Federal Swiss Capital ? Not really, except for SBB Cargo

NO, nobdoy wants to have the Federal Capital in Olten, but SBB CARGO is relocating its HQ from Basel to Olten. The contract about the present location in Basel will terminate in 2014 and the prices for similar locations in Basel no longer are acceptable while the space would be narrow. The price level and the strategic location of Olten makes it THE ideal place for the purpose. The change from entertaining and lively and beautiful Basel to Olten may be a challenge for many of the SBB CARGO folks. But those who relocate may possibly help to "upgrade" Olten a bit. The new HQ will be near to Olten Rail Station. The number of people relocating is around 500. Some or many of them of course may opt to commute between Basel and Olten. However, many WILL move and some will gradually be "replaced" by people from the Solothurn/Nord-Bern area which includes Biel/Bienne.
