Re: Election of Bundesrat

Little news from the SVP's fraction meeting. They don't plan to split into two fractions and still exclude their federal councils from the fraction.

Sorry, no English link but it's not an interesting article anyway.

I think that was taken very shortly after he became a Bundesrat. Amazing how long he survived.

The band's name actually is Die Ärzte, they originally planned to offer it for 24 hours only but their server got hammered for the entire timespan. Glad to see they still offer it!

Re: Election of Bundesrat

I've just listened to it, it's nothing for a broad audience but riddled with joking speech passages and might appeal to their fans but nobody else. (That said I don't dislike their music)

well my eldest gal has got all their Cd's they are a longstanding german punk rock band and sing in german too!

Their lyrics are some of the best I've ever read in German ! although I don't like the music that much.

I think It would only make sense for anyone in here to download it if they got a good understanding of high german and can sort of also read between the lines as they're texts often have got a double meaning

I have always liked their music, especially their lyrics have always been noteworthy.

(and I hate myself for missing the download, when I checked their server was down and then I forgot about it )
oh well, I was gonna buy their album anyway, so no too big loss

but yeah, unless someone speaks really good german, I guess a lot of their humour is lost

It sounded to me like a live gig without an audience. I could imagine that in the atmosphere of a concert full of fans, it might have been good, but for me it was disappointing.

Was it just a recording of a rehearsal for a gig?

I am quite keen on stuff sung in German, but this wasn't so much singing as bawling.

It was the shouting that did me in. To be honest, having dutifully listened to the full 48 minutes, and finding my ears assaulted, I was then reaching desperately for some gentler music. Thank you Eric Clapton and 461 Ocean Boulevard

That said, and with memories of my parents thinking the music I listened to was "a racket", I still have the download here, so can easily pop it onto a CD for your daughter. PM me if interested.

It's done depending on the convictions. Those who believe raise the hand and say "I swear" those who do not say "I promise".

Same as in court proceedings.
Pardon me for bringing up an old thread...

I was watching TSR a few weeks back and they interviewed Calmy-Rey on this. I didn't catch why exactly, she didn't raise her hand, but she mentioned that she is Roman Catholic.

Re: Election of Bundesrat

There was a good documentary on this last night on SF1. They're repeating it on the 11th, but early at 5:35 in the morning. So, set your recorders if you're interested (and if you understand Swiss-German).

Widmer-Schumpf mentioned in this documentary that her meeting with Schmid was key on her decision to accept the nomination.

Quote:

Wiederholungen:

07. März 2008 um 01.40 Uhr auf SF1
07. März 2008 um 11.00 Uhr auf SF1
11. März 2008 um 05.35 Uhr auf SF1
