Re: The Zurich HB Market. Unfair article in Tages Anzeiger.

Here's the report at WRS Radio and it confirms that most stall holders will come back next year. Although they may not start until March as I guess they have a lot of planning to do. No problem for us as Jan and Feb are pretty quiet months there and it's often so cold we need halogen lamps to stop the cheese from freezing!

Re: The Zurich HB Market. Unfair article in Tages Anzeiger.

The markets back this week with a few changes!

First off they've moved it to Tuesday, not sure why as there are already markets in Zurich on Tuesdays but I'm guessing its to do with other events needing the hall on Wednesdays during the year. Personally, Tuesday are much better for me.

The bar with picnic tables in the middle will not be there but there will be a much bigger picnic area with tables in the centre of the market where you can eat and drink anything you buy in the market - I should sell a lot more beer!

We have a bigger stall but because if the size we wanted we couldn't stay in our old position, we are now in the middle, the rent is a little higher but because of the bigger space, as well as part of the rent going to a marketing fund, I've no complaints.

There's fewer limits on what we can sell, the woman who ran it before was constantly wielding her control stick over what we could sell. From now we can also sell food to eat there or ready to take away so we'll be offering filled bagels, cheese plates as well as scones and clotted cream.

The market will now close at 7 instead of 8 which is good for us, the last hour was always a killer.

Hopefully we'll get off to a flying start tomorrow and I hope to see some familiar faces!

Re: The Zurich HB Market. Unfair article in Tages Anzeiger.

Sounds great! And excellent about the picnic area and being able to serve food as well as sell things to take home... I'll have to change my work schedule so I have Tuesday afternoons free on a regular basis!

Fantastic! Looking forward to market Tuesday! I'm so glad to have seen this thread or else I would have had no idea the days had switched.

If anyone sees any press articles could you let us know and post any links. Also let me know if you see any advertising, I'd just like to keep an eye on where some of our money is going!

Good to hear that it's back in action, although I, like some others, wouldn't have known unless you'd posted here. Even my GF who has her finger to the pulse on everything regarding markets in ZH hadn't heard about this.

Good to hear it's coming back, I was wondering what had happened to the market!

Also, nice to see that the picnic area is now something free and open that you can sit and eat and drink anything you buy... it used to be annoying as hell sitting down there only to be pounced on within 2 seconds forcing you to buy a bottle of coke in order to sit and eat something you had bought.

Look forward to visiting at some point over the next few weeks!

Re: The Zurich HB Market. Unfair article in Tages Anzeiger.

7pm is far too early for me. as 7pm is the time when I am off

I am involved in the ways of a shop, Which gets closed at 6pm, And our salesman needs a "witness" when he finishes at 6.15 until 6.40 pm .--- and then the next S7 is 16 7pm arriving HB at around 7.12

The management has been woeful, there has been absolutely no marketing or PR from them and what was once a "Speciality Food Market" became a market where people could get a Bratwurst, sandwich or curry, with fewer speciality food offers.
That was my impression too.

The meaning of "speciality" has somehow become confused with "assorted/miscellaneous" and many of my favourite stalls have vanished long ago (except of course Mr Grumpy, for which I am grateful)

I do hope the SBB manage to put the "speciality" and "balance" back in rather than renting space out to the highest bidders.

Re: The Zurich HB Market. Unfair article in Tages Anzeiger.

For all you Zurich people: Is the market worth a day trip from Geneva? Since the trip will be 3 hours one way i wont have time to do anything else really. Ok Grumpys stall is worth more than that but im talking in general

Travelling 6 hours just for that market sounds a bit extreme. If you can combine it with something in the Zürich-Rapperswil-Schaffhausen area
